DESIGN OF BOX ASSEMBLY USING NX CAD - SHEET METAL
Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX CAD
Objective: To design a Box Assembly by using NX CAD - Sheet metal application.
Software: NX CAD.
Introduction:
NX sheet metal Design provides the design professional with a complete set of tools to efficiently create and manage sheet metal parts based on the knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes. NX sheet metal design tools incorporate material and bending information, enabling the model to represent both the formed component and flattened blank shapes.
Steps to design sheet metal bracket:
- To create the base, using Tab command.
- To create a walls, using Flange command.
- Corners to be closed using Close corner feature.
- Using Flange and Hem flange feature to lock the walls.
- Using Mirror feature command to form the whole box
- Unite the two bodies.
- Create a profile on the side walls.
- To Create a Dimple using the previous profile.
- Using the mirror feature to copy the dimple on the opposite side.
- After that emboss to be create on the base using dimple feature.
- Unbend and rebend the box.
- Four beads to be create on the base using Bead and Mirror feature.
- Create a hem flange on the top of walls on all four sides.
- Using tab command, Box cover to be create.
- Flange to be create on one side of the box cover.
- After that using Tab feature to create base of the hinge.
- Using flange, Hem flange, normal cut-out to create hinge on the side wall.
- Using mirror feature to create another hinge and complete the model.
Conclusion: The Sheet metal model of Box assembly is obtained using basic feature of sheet metal application in NX CAD.
