Design of backdoor
BACK DOOR
Objective:
To design the back door of car. by the given class A surface . from that class A we need to create the backdoor outer panel upper ,lower , inner panel, and the required renforments.
BACKDOOR:
The boot space of the car is the main cargo compartment of the car. this area is cover by the backdoor or tailgate. most of the backdoor in the cars are operated mannually . but there are premiume cars which are having automatic openning of the backdoor. backdoor plays an important role during the rear crash. so while desinging a backdoor we should provide the nessesary requirements .

types of backdoor
1. top mounted

side mounted:

COMPONENTS:
1.OUTER PANEL UPPER
2.OUTER PANEL LOWER
3.INNER PANEL
4.HING REINFORCEMENT
5.GAS STAY REINFORCEMENT
6.LATCH AND STRIKER REINFORCEMENT
7.WIPER REINFORCEMENT
PROCEDURE FOLLOWED
OUTER PANEL UPPER:
For the creation of the outer panel upper first checked the given class A surface, after the visual checking soveld the patches and discontinuties on the given class A surface . most of the problems were casued by the edges which are extracted and created new surface using spline and multisection command. after the creation joined the surface and created a smooth surface . after that i created the hemming after the creation of hemming the surface was mirrored to the opposite direction and created the full surface . after the creation a new body was created the suraface is thickened using thickening command in the part workbench. the thickenss is 0.75mm. after the creation the surface was checked for the draft analysis images are given below.

BACKDOOR OUTER PANEL LOWER
The lower panel is also created using the same method used for the creation of upper panel . here the surface is checked and an extra flange was created fot the joing of upper panel and lower panel. the bottem surafce which id closed to the lowe panel was extracted and joined together. and filetted the corner .after thet the hemming was created. after the creation of the surface was mirrored and thickend to the requirment which is 0.75mm images are shown below

INNER PANEL
for the creation of inner panel, the outer panel was taken as the reference surface . a new part is created in the assembly workbench and the surface is copied into the part. the surface was offseted to the required distance for the inner panel creation. some faces of the surafce was extracted seperatly and offseted to required distace with concidering the boot space . by using parallel curve command cureves were made in the extracted face and the surface is splitted using the parellel curve. the overall flange length is kept at 30mm . after the creation of the flange a sweep was made along with the draft direction. and there are connected with the offsetted surface. and trimed to join the flange . the lower flange was joined using the join command. after the creation of the flange anather sweep was made at the another side of the flange and connected with thw surface, to make the rear mirror area. embosses are made as per the requirement concidering the flow of load. and cutouts are made. mastic flange are created inte inner pannel which is used to connect the inner panel area.
after that hing embosess are created . it was created by creating a plane by through curve command. and a sketch is made to create the surface . the surface is made alonge with the palne which was created. same method is used for creating the wiper motor embosess and gas stay embosess . for the latch and striker embosess . i created a sketch by making a trajoctory and created the hing embosess . images are shown below.

HING REINFORCEMENT:
For the creation of hing reinforment , a new part is created and the inner panel surafce is taken as the reference surface . the surface which is near to the hing emboses are extracted and offteseted to 0.75mm distance and the extra area was trimmed off . the surface was thickned 0.75mm

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

GAS STAY REINFORCEMENT:
gas stay renforcement are done using the same menthod which is used for creating the hing reinforcement

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

LATCH AND STRICKER REINFORCEMENT:
for the creation of latch and stricker same method was used as we created the gas stay reinforcement.

CONCLUSION:
Here the back door was designed from the given class A surface. the design was as per the requirement. and the draft analysis was done .
