Design of backdoor

Back Door : A door is a hinged component that is used for vehicle entry and egress. One sort of vehicle door that gives access to the luggage compartment is the back door, which is found next to the passenger seat. The majority of automobiles have back doors that are actuated by a gas stay, which lessens the effort needed to lift the door open. Some high-end vehicles include powered back doors that are powered by an electric motor.A motorised trunk lid system is another name for this type of device. Hatchbacks and station waggons are offered with three doors or five doors. As it reaches the passenger compartment, the rear hatch is in this instance categorised as a door. The naming is primarily used in nations in Europe. The back door should be constructed to meet the safety standards for a rear accident.

Types of backdoor:

Top Mounted : This style of back doors is utilised in several sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and station waggons. Modern automobiles include top-mounted tailgating devices that are motorised and gas-powered. Compared to side-mounted or bar doors with canter pillars, these top mounted tailgates offer better rear visibility.

Side Mounted Doors : Side-mounted doors are utilised in van-type MPVs, SUVs, and pickup truck vehicles, as the name implies. Compared to top-mounted doors, these side-mounted or barn doors are much simpler. These doors can be opened simply and are often smaller in size. For long pipes and other lengthy components, where one door is maintained open, these doors are more practical for the people who handle the goods. Accidental head strikes are also avoided by these doors. The side-mounted doors make loading and unloading cargo more simpler.

Bottom/Split Type :These are the most practical back doors since the bottom split can be utilised to support or even serve as a table for tourists.

Back door assembly

The back door assembly has the following components:

  • Inner Panel
  • Outer Panel
  • Hinge Reinforcement
  • Gas stay Reinforcement
  • Wiper Motot Reinforcement

Inner Panel:One of the most crucial components, the inner door panel is utilised to stiffen the door assembly and is where all accessories, including as hinges, glass guiding channels, moulded trim, and latches, are installed. The integration method is a potential approach. The part is formed using the integration method from a single blank. By doing this, the amount of tools required, the cost of assembly, and any fit ability issues are all eliminated.

Outer Panel :The exterior of the back door is comparable to other BIW parts in that it contributes to the aesthetics of a car. The given multi-stage coating has the ability to resist scratches, prevent corrosion, and have a smooth and appealing appearance. The outer panel also contains mounting holes for the licence plate and provisions for the rear fog lamp and tail lamp. The majority of hatchback automobiles are equipped with wiper motors.

Hinge Reinforcement : The back door's opening and shutting are made possible by hinges. On both sides, the hinge is secured with one end on the backdoor and the other on the roof. Both the outside and inside of the backdoor might have hinges. To make up for the weak area caused by the acting load over it, the hinge reinforcements are installed.

Gas Stay Reinforcement :A mechanism called a "Gas Stay" is employed to hold the back door open. The gas stay automatically engages into support position as the back door opens and doesn't require any manual effort. The Gas Stay is fixed with one end on the backdoor and the other on the body side or the immobile back door location. At the location where the Gas Stay is mounted, embossing is offered to make up for any weaknesses and increase strength.

Wiper Motor Reinforcement : Wiper motor reinforcement is created to mount the wiper motor assembly.
