Creating Levels, Grids, Layout and model elements for a residential unit using REVIT
1st question ans:
- BIM is Building Information Modelling. As the name suggests it gives complete information about the building from concept to construction. It involves all the descipline like Architects, Structural Engineer, Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing Engineers to work on the same project simentaneously.
- BIM offers real time changes & it gives realistic picture for the clients and one can see how the building looks like well before it gets started by way of 3d Modelling.
- It gives us error free drawings.
- It has huge amount of database information regarding the building.
- BIM has complete command over the building regarding any modification, alterations as against 2D. as it is very difficult to do changes in 2d & alterations and modifications are very combursome.
- Bim being a powerful platform it offers a common platform to all disciplines to work simeltaneously.
2nd question ans:
- Elements in Revit categorised in to different categories. Some of the categories are interchangeable but some are not. Since different category has different special settings, it is quite rare to change element from one Category to another.
- Categories are pre-set in Revit and cannot be modified. New Category cannot be added. However, Sub-categories can be added under provided Category.
