Creating Architectural and Structural model with 3D rendering using REVIT

Q1) Select the type of structure you want to build from one of the three below:
a. Multi-Unit Residential Apartment
b. Office Buildings
c. School

AIM: To select the type of structure you want to build from one of the given.

ANS:

I would like to select office building for my project.

Q2) Assume reasonable assumptions for geographic and location details for your project modeling. Based on assumptions and type of structure selected identify the modeling requirements from NBC

ANS:

AIM: To Assume reasonable assumptions for geographic and location details for your project modeling.

PROCEDURE:

This project is designed in plain area.

It is in commercial area.

The road width in front of this structure is 70ft.

So, the height of this building can be 40 ft

MODELLING REQUIREMENTS FROM NCB ARE:

At-least two exits must be provided in every building so as to permit safe escape of employees in case of earthquake or fire hazards. the minimum height of basement should be 2.5m and maximum height should be 4.5m.

Q3) Using the structural model, include the following components based on the type of structure selected
a. Foundation – Isolated / Wall/Matt Foundation
b. Columns
c. Beams Connected to Columns
d. Roof Framing/ Truss
e. Floor / Decks
f. Floor Openings for Elevators and Stairs

ANS:

AIM: To Use the structural model, include the following components based on the type of structure selected

PROCEDURE:

STEP:1

  • Go to home screen, search revit 2021
  • open revit
  • make horizontal and vertical grids at spacing of 30' as per NCB

STEP: 2

  • go to elevation
  • start increasing the no. of levels as required.
  • the last level should be roof level.
  • and name all the layers as required.

STEP: 3

  • select column from the tool ribbon
  • start placing the column on intersection of grids as shown.

  • change the view to 3D
  • we will get to see the interface as shown below

  • place another column on the grid intersection from ground floor to first floor.

STEP: 4

  • now select beam from the ribbon
  • connect the beam to diffrent columns.
  • we can see, as shown below

  • change the view to 3D
  • to get this view as shown below

  • Now select the entire fig,
  • go to copy option
  • assign to first floor, second floor and third floor.

STEP: 5

  • Now go to roof option
  • chnage view to ground floor
  • select the outer frsme snd mske s loop to assign roof
  • do same for first, second and third foor

STEP: 6

  • go to wall option
  • select the floor to assign wall,
  • repeat same for all the floors

  • now change the exterior walls to curtain wall
  • as shown i n the fig below

STEP: 7

  • go to properties and change the colur and material as requied for roof
  • repeat the same for walls
  • as shown in below fig.

STEP: 8

  • now make a slab for placing the stair
  • go to the slab option draw a rectangle and click ok.
  • copy the same to othe 2 floors
  • now draw a open shaft on all the slab
  • go to stair option
  • start placing the staqir as required
  • and make doors at the entrence.

Q4) Using the architectural model, include the following components based on the type of structure selected
a. Wall Layout with appropriate material and finishing
b. Exterior façade with fancy finish
c. Interior partition walls to size rooms
d. Components to add details to a room ( Desk, Chair, Lighting, Plumbing fixtures)
e. Add components such as stairs Elevators
f. Have at-least one side of the building with curtain walls and glass panels
g. Include interior and exterior lighting fixtures
h. Place proper topographic components from outside ( Trees, Parking, Plants) to add details to the model

ANS:

AIM:To use the architectural model, include the following components based on the type of structure selected

PROCEDURE:

STEP: 1

  • USE THE SAME GRID FROM THE PERIVIOUS PLAN TO DRAW WALL
  • Modify the wall along the boundary

STEP: 2

  • draw the interior partition and place the required furniture and components in the plan and change the view to 3D

STEP:3

  • now change the front walls of the building
  • use curtain walls or glazed pannel

STEP:4

  • add required componenets to the floor
  • as shown in fig, below

STEP: 5

  • now go to plan view draw a rectangular floor
  • add the required components

Q5) Provide a set of drawings in an architectural and structural model to list the following details with categories and appropriate sheet templates included
a. Floor Plans with Annotations
b. Elevations
c. Sections

ANS:

AIM: To Provide a set of drawings in an architectural and structural model to list the following details with categories and appropriate sheet templates

PROCEDURE:

  • first creat a sheet
  • then simultaniously add diffrent plans
  • as shown below

a. Floor Plans with Annotations

b. Elevations

c. Sections

Q6) Using the Rendering settings, Render images of the 3D model produced and include the rendered images to the drawing sheets
a. Rendering from interior rooms
b. Rendering from out showing topographic features
c. Rendering through structural framing

ANS:

AIM: To Render images of the 3D model produced and include the rendered images to the drawing sheets

PROCEDURE:

  • Go to view tab
  • select the rendering option
  • set the criterias and save the image on sheets
  • as shown below

Q7) Print the set of drawing sheets created and submit the drawings from the architecture and structure model

ANS:

AIM: To Print the set of drawing sheets created and submit the drawings from the architecture and structure model

PROCEDURE:

Step: 1

  • go to tool bar at the top,
  • select print
  • the dialoug box will apier as shown below,

  • print all the created sheets one by one
  • as shown below
