Concept on positioning of Columns

1.

Symmertry:

It has been noted that the plan's mass and stiffness distribution is well symmetrical.

As a result, both of the two horizontal displacements in each of the two orthogonal horizontal directions tend to be lessened.

It also has excellent homogeneity.

Redundancy:

The plan's Periphery is missing structural components. As a result, the consequences of seismic action are distributed unevenly and nonlinearly throughout the plan.

Because of the very poor energy dissipation across the structure, it is an unreliable structure.

Stifness in both directions:

The building layout might not be able to withstand horizontal seismic activities in the shorter (Y-axis) direction, and the stiffness and resistance in the shorter (Y-axis) direction are also lower than in the longer (X-axis) direction.

Ductility:

A shorter direction (Y-axis) of the elastic earthquake forces may be too strong for the building to withstand. This could lead to an inelastic response.

Ductility will make up for the decreased design force in the shorter direction (Y-axis).

2.

Due to the masonry fill, the upper floor is rigid and sturdy.
The column below is longer than the one above one story.
Several measures to prevent irregularities

The structure has uneven torsion. Thus, the building's framing needs to be updated.

By using light-weight concrete, low-weight masonry, or more wood in the construction, mass irregularity is minimised.

The building should be constructed with good symmetry.

All of the columns that are present on the structure should be the same size and height.

Building weight should decrease from the ground floor to the top.

3 &4

It is not symmetrical.

Low ductility is produced by greater strength.

There are no properly positioned masonry infill walls in this building.

Redundancy in the vertical direction is not sufficiently supplied in this building.
