Comparison Of Bending Of Beams
AIM - To do comparing of bending of beams.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT :
Our main objective is to compare the performance of the given three different beams which are rectangular beam, I-section, C channel.
ABOUT BEAM:
A beam is a structural member which is used to bear loads applied to them. It is used to resist vertical loads, shear forces and bending moments. Based on equilibrium conditions we have :
- Statically determinate beam – For a statically determinate beam, equilibrium conditions alone can be used to solve reactions.
- Statically indeterminate beam – For a statically indeterminate beam, equilibrium conditions are not enough to solve reactions. Additional deflections are needed to solve reactions.
PROCEDURE FOR THIS PROJECT:
- Creating the 2D design for the given beams i.e rectangular beam, I- section and C-channel.
- Applying extrude bose/base to make 3D design.
- Now using simulation, reating new project.
- Choosing material for the beam.
- Applying fixturesa and loads.
- Creating mesh.
- After creating mesh, running the simulation.
FOR RECTANGLUAR BEAM:
FOR I-SECTION:
FOR C -CHANNEL:
RESULTS:
BEAMS Maximum Von Mises Stress [ N/MM^2] Maximum Displacement [mm] Maximum Strain [mm]
1. Rectangular 9.44 3.102e-02 2.995e-05
2. I-section 20.12 8.331e-02 7.760e-05
3. C- channel 43.99 3.470e-01 1.515e-04
As for different areas of a project need different things, so we select a beam profile for those needs. Out of these three the best beam is I- section beam because of unidirectional bending in it.
CONCLUSION:
The design and comparison for different beams have been done successfully.
