BENCH-MARKING
What is Bench-Marking?
Bench-Marking in automotive industries involves a structured comparision between similar products, services or processes on some dimensions of performance.

It is a process involved in the 'Predesign and Developement Phase' of a vehicle which carry farwards after concept prepration.
- Concept Prepration
- Bench-Marking 1
- Carryover Study
- Bench-Marking 2

as mentioned above there are 2 stages of Bench-Marking. Bench-Marking 1 is a basic level which focuses on overall product. But the Bench-Marking 2 is a detailed process which focuses on part level of vehcile.
Bench-Marking 1
It is a product level benchmarking where different vehicles of competitiors are compared on the basis of price, specifications and features on that segment based on the data collected during the 'Concept Prepration' process. For example a concept model is prepared considering the MUV segment with a target market, type of car, target volume and price. In the Bench-Marking process, Vehicle models from different competitor brands are picked that are similar to concept model. Then all the dimensions of performances are compared within these models to get the best suitable parmeters for the concept model to stand uniquely in the market.

Bench-Marking 2
The level 2 Bench-Marking deals with indetail part level comparison between the exsiting vihicle models from the different brands. For example the component wise comparison from competitor vehiles gives a clear picture of weight destribution and helps to reduce the weight there by improving the performance. Similarly a very detailed comparison is done in all the dimensions of vehicle which contributes to the perfomance, asthetics, safety and consumer comfert. This indetailed comparison provides a very clear picture of a best ranking vehicle to stand among the competitors.
