Benchmarking
ASSIGNMENT 2 - BENCHMARKING
Benchmarking is a method of comparing products of the competitors who have established their grounds in the market. The outcome of benchmarking is provide us with the vision of better decision making on what type of product do we want to launch against the current competition. It also gives us the information that where we can improve in our product along with the process or service associated with it.
Benchmarking can be classified into two types:
- Technical Benchmarking: A design engineer has to perform this type of benchmarking to compare the design attributes with the competitors.
- Competitive Benchmarking: It’s a type of benchmarking where we compare the overall attributes and value of our organization against the competitor.
Procedure for Benchmarking:
- We need to consider the crucial aspects of an organisation which plays a significant role in improving our own organization.
- Segregate the crucial aspects related to the teams who are responsible for it.
- Gather the information from the organization we are interested in.
- Study the now gathered and segregated data and differentiate what data would be the most useful for our organization.
- Implement the outcome of the data collected in your organization to improve.
Benchmarking Assignment:

- Using For commute to office and for monthly trip to Madhurai
- Vehicle should be a minimum of 5 seater
- Budget should be 8 – 10 lakhs on road
- Mr Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars
By considering the above points I have selected 4 vehicles and they are Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet,
Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza
1. Hyundai Venue:

2. Kia Sonet:

3. Tata Nexon:

4. Maruti Brezza:

Comparison of the above four product can be seen in the table below:
| HYUNDAI | KIA | TATA | MARUTI | |
| MODEL | VENUE | SONET | NEXON | BREZZA |
| VERSION | E 1.2 Petrol | HTE 1.2 | XE | LXi |
| ON ROAD PRICE, BANGALORE | ₹ 927,586.00 | ₹ 929,770.00 | ₹ 954,717.00 | ₹ 961,796.00 |
| ENGINE | 1197 cc | 1197 cc | 1199 cc | 1462 cc |
| MILEAGE | 17.5 kmpl | 18.4 kmpl | 17.5 kmpl | 20.1 kmpl |
| SEATING CAPACITY | 5 Seater | 5 Seater | 5 Seater | 5 Seater |
| SAFETY | 5 Star (Global NCAP) | |||
| FUEL | PETROL | PETROL | PETROL | PETROL |
| TRANSMISSION | MANUAL | MANUAL | MANUAL | MANUAL |
Out of the 4 cars compared I would recommend Tata Nexon XE because 5 Star (Global NCAP) safety is the Unique Selling Proposition of Tata which is required by most client who are on long trips with family. Since Mr. Pughazhyendii have 2 senior citizen and 1 child on board when he is on his monthly trip to Madhurai. Tata Nexon is having 5 seater capacity. It is within the budget of 8 - 10 lakhs i.e. 9,54,717/- On Road, Bangalore. Plus Mr Pughazhyendii gets the experience of big car when compared with sedans and hatchback. Thus we can conclude that Mr Pughazhyendii's requirements are fulfilled by purchasing Tata Nexon.
