Benchmarking:

Benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company's products, services, or processes against those of another business considered to be the best in the industry. It also helps to improve or give the best results in the product compared to the competitors.

Case Study:

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Observations:

Considering the budget as well as the safety & mileage factors, Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendhii might be expecting a comfortness while driving for 500kms with his family. So obviously he prefer a car with safety concern and then he expect a decent mileage which comes under his budget (8 to 10 lakhs).

1.PERFORMANCE :

Maruti breeza,Kia sonet & Hyundai Venue car has a powerful engine which can produce around 6000rpm where as Tata Nexon can produce around 5500rpm only. But Engine cc is quite more in Maruti breeza which is 1462cc when compared to all. So performance wise Maruti Breeza is excellent. Next is Tata Nexon which has 1199cc which also performs good but not good as Breeza.

2.INTERIOR :

Coming to interior design for a family concern, Kia Sonet has huge space for boot which is around 392 litres and Hyundai Venue & Tata Nexon has 350 litres. So considering this, Kia sonet is excellent which is preferable and Tata Nexon & Hyundai Venue is also considerable for this case.

3.EXTERIOR :

Since he drive his car in area like Bangalore, he needs a car with decent ground clearance to drive in offroad conditions also. So in this case we have Tata Nexon which has 209mm and Kia Sonet has 205mm GC. So we can consider both vehicles are excellent with their ground clearance.

4.MILEAGE :

Considering the mileage factor, according to ARAI, Maruti breeza gives 20.15kmpl where as Kia Sonet gives almost 18.4kmpl. But Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendhii needs a decent mileage in both city and highway. So we suggest budget friendly car Kia sonet because it gives 15kmpl in city & 18.4kmpl in highway.

5.SAFETY :

Coming to safety concern, Tata Nexon has Global NCAP rating of 5 star in crash test having 2 air bags itself. Other cars have 4 star rating in its crash tests. so we suggest Tata nexon if safety is considered as an essential one.

6.PRICE :

Coming to price, Maruti Breeza is 9.22 Lakh which is less when compared to all 3 cars. Next will be Kia Sonet comes under the affordable budget (9.47 Lakh)

The benchmarking is done on 4 vehicles, hence we conclude that considering the price,decent mileage,huge boot space and safety aspects Kia Sonet is best choice for Mr.D.S. Pughazhyendhii and his family.
