Assignment 2-RADIOSS Engine File Editing & 3D Meshing Challenge

1.) the speed of sound in rail steel is 5126.6m/sec

2.) the time taken is 0.195sec

3.) the time taken is 0.195 sec

4.) report:

aim: to set the frequency of the animation input in order to obtain 20 animation steps.

procedure:

1.The starter file and the engine file are extracted. Then the engine file is imported to the radioss solver and is then analysed using it.

2. Once the solving is done we can get the ellapse time and the set frequency. In order to obtain the required frequency we make use of the formula (animation steps=ellapsed time/frequency).

3. Upon making the changes in the solver and running the radioss agin we can get the required chages updated in the engine file. We can the open the engine file in the notepad++ and view the change in code.

conclusion: for a time of 10msec a frequency of 0.5 is to be set to obtain 20 animation steps. Charge print-10

1D meshing report:

aim: to obtain different type of joints in 1D.

procedure: for the given surfaces using connections basically 2 types of structures can be made RBE1 and Rigid elements. The elemnts such as trusses, bars, springs with 2 nodes and 3 nodes, rbe joints are made and then the joint weld type is decided. Therer are majorly 2 types of weld preferred. one is spot and the other being seam weld.

cocnclusion: the joints are made along the 1D and screen shot capured.

3-D Meshing Report:

Aim: To obtain 3-D mesh for the given housing and arm bracket.

procedure:

1. The housing is imported in step file format. It consist of 2 models in its assembly.

2. Hiding one of the component the other is initially selected and 2-D mesh is created using trias along its surface. Then using the 3-d option and tetramesh the complete elemnts are selected with setting the tetramesh parameters as per the requirements.

3. The the mesh is created in the solid component and in the similar mannes the other component is also meshed.

4. Next the arm bracket is imported to the hypermesh and the base is medhes in 2-D and is dragged to the complete base. Then using the mesh in the base the arm is meshed udinh the spin tool.

5. A centre is created fot the path of spin and then the mesh is made. Once done using the mesh on this sureface and the end of the mesh of arm straight the number of componments sre matched and meshed.4

6. Then the bose is medhes taking the 2-D mesh on one of it's sutrface as reference and isung the solid map tool. Then it is moved.

conclusions: A complete 3-D profile is obtained with no 2-D elements
