Assignment 2
1. Run SI engine single cylinder setup at 1800 rpm.
RESULT:-
IMEP = 10.61 bar
BMEP = IMEP - FMEP = 10.61 - 1.13 = 9.48 bar
Air Flow Rate = 24.6 kg/hr
BSFC = 239.2 g/kW-h
2. Increase the power output by 10% at 3600 rpm
CALCULATION:-
The current power output is 16.7 kW that is 22.4 HP
To increase it by 10% means the power output will be 18.37 kW that is 24.96 HP
For petrol engine, mechanical efficiency is 85 % .....(by K.K data booklet)
`eta_m=frac{b_p}{i_p}`
`0.85=frac{18.37}{i_p}`
Therefore, `i_p=21.61` kW
`i_p=frac{P_(im)LAnK}{60000}`
where `P_(im)rightarrow`Indicated Mean pressure = 12.85 x `10^5` `N/m^2`
L `rightarrow` Stroke length
A `rightarrow` Area of piston
n `rightarrow` RPM for 4-stroke n=N/2=1800 rpm
K `rightarrow` Number of cylinder = 1
`21.61=frac{12.85*10^5*L*A*1800*1}{60000}`
`L*A=5.56*10^(-4) m^3`
Assume diameter of piston d = 90 mm ....(K.K data booklet)
Therefore, Area of piston = `frac{pi}{4}*(90*10^(-3))^2`
Area of piston = 6.36 x `10^-3 m^2`
`L=frac{5.56*10^-4}{6.36*10^-3}`
L= 87 mm
L/D = 87/90 = 0.96 ... (which in range (0.7 to 1) according K.K. data booklet)
Therefore, Stroke length and bore diameter is 87 and 90 mm respectively.
Kindly note all the data are referred by KALE-KHANDARE data booklet
GT:-
GT - Brake Power = 25 HP
CONCLUSION:-
Hence, by changing the diameter and stroke length we can increase brake power
