Project Report
Yacht
Aim:
- To create a model and assembly parts of an “Yacht”.
Objectives:
- To sketch and model different parts Yacht in solidworks and to know about create model and different rendering options.
Introduction to Yacht:
- A yacht is a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising ,or racing.
- In this project yacht is modelled and the whole modeling process is divided into three
- The yacht consists of the following parts
- Propeller
- Radar
- Blue print
- Hull
- Superstructure
- Seats
-Front seat
-Middle seat
-Rear seat
- Radar mast
- Garage door
Steps for modeling:
Propeller:
- A propeller is a device with a rotating hub and radiating blades that are set at a pitch to form a helical spiral, that when rotated, performs an action which is similar to Archimedes' screw. It transforms rotational power into linear thrust by acting upon a working fluid, such as water or air.
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Revolve
- Loft
- Cut extrude
- Circular patterns
- Fillet
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create the centre shaft of the propeller.
- Create one propeller blade and provide fillets to all the necessary edges.
- Apply a circular pattern

Radar:
- It is a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects, by sending out pulses of radio waves which are reflected off the object back to the source.
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Sketch pattern
- Boss Extrude
- Cut extrude
- Fillet
- Split line
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a side view of the radar and extrude it.
- Provide fillet to all the sharp edges.
- Applying mirror
Blue print:
- Blue print is a guide for making part’s of the yacht.
Procedure:
- Open a new part and create a blueprint of the yacht.
- In a new sketch import the image of the top view of the yacht and place a appropriate position with respect to the region.
- Repeat the steps.
Hull:
- Hull is the major part of a ship or boat or yacht which is watertight in nature.
- Over the hull there be deckhouse, front seat, middle seat, rear seat, radar mast
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Surface loft
- Surface trim
- Surface extrude
- Fill surface
- Knit surface
- Shell
- Boss extrude
- Cut extrude
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Curve
- Split line
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a project curves and create a lofted surface.
- Trim unwanted surface.
- Fill the open surface and knit all surface.
- Create a shell.
- To create fillet & chamfer.
- Create windows and portholes on the surface of the hull.
- Create a standing board on the front side of the hull.
- Create mirror.

Superstructure:
- A superstructure is an upward extension of an existing structure above a baseline. This term is applied to various kinds of physical structures such as buildings, bridges, shipshaving the degree of freedom
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Surface extrude
- Surface sweep
- Surface knit
- Ruled surface
- Surface trim
- Surface loft
- Surface extend
- Surface fill
- Mirror
- Sweep
- Chamfer
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create half of the superstructure by surface modeling and convert into a solid body.
- Create steps in the front portion of superstructure.
- Create glass window portion.
- Crate a wiper part over the front window.
- Create a mirror.
- Apply the appearance.

Seats:
- There are three seats in the yacht. Front and the middle seat is located at the front of the superstructure and the rear seat is located at the back of the super structure.
Font seat:
- Front seat is kept in the front portion of the hull.
Tools used:
- Boss extrude
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Mirror
- Surface sweep
- Surface extrude
- Surface knit
- Cut extrude
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a projected curve.
- Create a seating portion.
- Provide a fillet and chamfer.
- Apply appearance.
Middle seat:
- The middle seat is kept just behind the superstructure.
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Boss extrude
- Cut extrude
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Curve
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Mirror
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a base of the middle seat.
- Create a cushioning part.
- Provide fillet and chamfer for required edges.
- Create table at the centre of the middle seat.
- Apply appearance

Rear seat:
- The rear seat is kept at the rear end of the hull.
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Boss extrude
- Cut extrude
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Curve
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Mirror
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a base of the middle seat.
- Create a cushioning part.
- Provide fillet and chamfer for required edges.
- Create table at the centre of the rear seat.
- Apply appearance.

Radar mast:
- Radar mast is the mounting device of the radar in the ship.
- It have a transmitter, receiver and processor.
Tools used:
- Sketch
- Sketch pattern
- Boss Extrude
- Cut extrude
- Fillet
- Split line
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Create a bottom plate and provide a fillet.
- Create a cylindrical tank on the bottom plate.
- Create radar holder.
- Create two horns.
- Apply mirror
- Apply appearance.

Garage door:
- Garage door is a part of the hull, it is fixed at the back side of the hull/
- It is used to close the storage opening at the back side of the hull.
Tools used:
- Fillet
- Cut extrude
- Chamfer
- Mirror
Procedure:
- Insert the blueprint of the yacht in a new part.
- Insert a block from the hull.
- Remove unwanted parts and to provide fillet.
- Apply mirror.
- Apply appearance to the door.

Rendering:
- It is the process of generating an image from a model by means of computer software. Rendering is used in architecture, simulators, video games, films and television visual effects and design visualization.
Tools used:
- Edit scene
- Edit appearance
- Edit decal
- Integrated preview
- Final render

Conclusion:
- In these challenges I have learned a lot of things like,Projecting curves,Rendering,Different kinds of mates,Combining different material,Mirror,Sweep,Dome,Chamfer.
- This helped to improve my skills in solid works.
