YACHT

Abstract

This project involves the design, assembly, and rendering of yacht model, yacht is designed and assembled in solid works 2016 and rendered using photo view 360

MODELLING

The yacht is built through features based solid modelling and surface modelling features and consists of the following components.

  1. Propeller
  2. Radar
  3. Blue print setup of yacht
  4. Hull
  5. Garage door
  6. Rear seat
  7. Front seat
  8. Mid seat
  9. Super structure
  10. Radar mast

Propeller

It transforms rotational power into linear thrust by acting upon a fluid

Features involved

  • Revolve
  • Loft
  • Fillet
  • Cut extrude
  • Circular pattern

Procedure

  • A closed full defined sketch is drawn with the help of line tool and spline
  • Then it is revolved to form a solid body
  • Loft is used to draw the fins of the propeller
  • The fine is filleted
  • Cut extrude is used to form a hole on one side
  • Circular pattern is used to pattern the fins over a circular object

Radar

It displays all the targets that are present with in the radar range

Features involved

  • Extrude
  • Fillet
  • Cut extrude
  • Sketch pattern
  • Mirror
  • Split line

Procedure

  • A closed sketch is drawn and it is extrude then fillet is applied on the edges
  • An offset is created on the one side and it is extrude
  • To draw an nut first it is extrude and it is extrude cut to form a single nut
  • Sketch pattern is used to pattern the nut
  • Fillet is applied on the edges
  • The bodies are mirrored with respect to the plane
  • Text is drawn with the help of split line

Blue print set up for yacht

  • This blue print set up is used to draw the components
  • Insert image is used to insert the view

Hull

It is a water tight body of a ship

Features involved

  • Surface loft
  • Surface trim
  • Surface extrude
  • Surface knit
  • Surface fill
  • Shell
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Fillet
  • Chamfer
  • Sweep
  • Dome
  • Helix/spiral
  • Linear pattern
  • Revolve
  • Combine
  • Split
  • Split line
  • Deck surface

Procedure

  • First the blue print set up is opened and save as option is used to a new part in the blue print
  • first the outer surface is done with the help of surface tools like surface loft, surface trim, surface extrude, surface knit surface fill
  • then shell icon is used to make shell
  • fillet chamfer are used at the edges
  • the upper part is made by extrude boss, cut extrude
  • windows are made by cut extrude
  • railings are designed by sweep option
  • steps are designed at the end of the hub by cut extrude and boss extrude
  • propeller shaft is designed by the revolve option
  • split icon is used to split the part to form like an garage then it is saved in another file for further use
  • mirror icon is used to mirror the bodies
  • then separate decals are added to the surfaces
  • combine is used to combine the whole part into an single part
  • deck surface is used so that it can be taken as an reference to draw the other parts

Garage door

This is used for open and close of the garage

Features involved

  • Cut extrude
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Mirror

Procedure

  • The garage that are separated are cut extrude
  • Then filleted on the outer edge
  • Hole is created in one end by cut extrude
  • Mirror to form a door
  • Then cut extrude is used to cut in the garage door like an alphabets

Rear seat

It is at the back side of the hull

Features involved

  • Surface sweep
  • Surface offset
  • Surface trim
  • Ruled surface
  • Extend surface
  • Surface knit
  • Surface extrude
  • Surface loft
  • Bose extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Sweep
  • Mirror
  • Fillet
  • Chamfer
  • Revolve

Procedure

  • First the blue print set up is opened and save as option is used to a new part with the blue print
  • Insert part is used to insert the surface from the hull
  • The designing is fully made in the surface
  • Mainly all the surface options are used in these to form an rear bed
  • Extrude option is used to make the pillows
  • Chamfer is used in the pillows to make like an angle
  • Sweep is used in the side of the bed to form like a steel rod
  • Mirror is used to mirror the bodies
  • Revolve is used to make the flag stand at the back

Front seat

It is at the front side of the hull before the super structure

Features involved

  • Surface sweep
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Fill
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface loft
  • Surface Knit
  • Chamfer
  • Cut extrude
  • Dome
  • Revolve
  • Fillet
  • Mirror

Procedure

  • First the blue print set up is opened and save as option is used to a new part with the blue print
  • Insert part is used to insert the surface from the hull
  • The designing is fully made with the surface options
  • Revolve option is used to form the seat
  • These seat edge are filleted
  • Dome option is used to see the seat realistic
  • Cut extrude is used to separate the seats
  • Fillet is used at the corners
  • Mirror is used to mirror the bodies

Mid seat

It is the seat that is between the super structure and the back seat

Features involved

  • Boss extrude
  • Fillet
  • Chamfer
  • Cut extrude
  • Mirror

Procedure

  • First the blue print set up is opened and save as option is used to a new part with the blue print
  • Insert part is used to insert the surface from the hull
  • Boss extrude is used to draw the stand of the seat
  • Another bass extrude is used to draw the next part of the seat
  • Another extrude is used to make lower part of seat
  • Another extrude is used to do the sliding path of the seat
  • Then the sliding is done by using chamfer
  • Fillet is applied to all the edges
  • Mirror is applied to mirror the bodies
  • Then table in the centre is designed by extrude and extrude cut
  • Fillet is applied to all the edges

Super structure

It is the structure found on the top of the hull

Features involved

  • Surface extrude
  • Surface sweep
  • Surface Knit
  • Fillet
  • Ruled surface
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface Loft
  • Surface Fill
  • Surface extend
  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Surface offset
  • Thicken
  • Sweep
  • Mirror
  • Chamfer

Procedure

  • First the blue print set up is opened and save as option is used to a new part with the blue print
  • Insert part is used to insert the surface from the hull
  • The surface option are used to design the outer surface of the super structure
  • Then it is made to solid body by the surface knit option
  • Surface knit option is again and after completion of the surface
  • Cut extrude is used to cut the windows , doors
  • Boss extrude is used to make the steel rod in the windows
  • Extrude is also used to make handle bars in the door
  • Sweep is used to make rounded steel rods

  • Boss extrude is used to make the surface for the radar mast
  • Fillet is applied to all the edges
  • Revolve is used to make a radar at the surface
  • Boss extrude is used to make antenna
  • Sweep is used to make steel rods
  • Boss extrude is use to make a stand for the radar
  • Mirror is used to mirror the bodies
  • Revolve, dome, shell is used to make an horn
  • Boss extrude is used connect the horn with the surface

Assembly procedure

  • Take the hull and click in the window to fix it
  • Take the super structure and click in the window to fix it
  • Take the front seat, mid seat and click in the window to fix it
  • Take the radar mast and click in the window to fix it
