Project Report

Yacht Modeling

AIM:

  • To create and sketch each parts of a American Chopper and assemble all the parts into a single vehicle using solidworks.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To create every part of an Yacht and assemble to have fully defined Yacht using solidworks and to know about different rendering options in solidworks.

Procedure:

Propeller:

  • A propelleris a device with a rotating hub and radiating blades that are set at a pitch to form a helical spiral, that when rotated performs an action which is similar to Archimedes' screw.
  • It transforms rotational power into linear thrust by acting upon a working fluid such as water or air

Tools used:

  • Sketch spline
  • Revolve
  • Reference Geometry
  • Loft
  • Fillet
  • Extrude Cut
  • Circular Pattern

Radar:

  • It does so by detecting other ships and land obstacles, to give bearing and distance for collision avoidance and navigation while on water.
  • A marine radardevice acts as a major navigation aid for boaters.
  • It helps in detecting boats, birds, landmasses, and weather systems - even if the visibility is less than usual.

Tools used:

  • Sketch
  • Extrude
  • Fillet
  • offset entities
  • Pattern/Mirror
  • Cut Extrude
  • Text
  • Split Line

Hull:

  • A hullis the watertight body of a ship or boat. The hullmay open at the top or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck.
  • A top the deck may be a deckhouse and other superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast.
  • The line where the hullmeets the water surface is called the waterline.

Tools used:

  • Blueprint setup
  • Sketch
  • Projected Curve
  • Surface Loft
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Knit
  • Surface Fill
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Pattern Feature
  • Boss Extrude
  • Chamfer
  • Sweep
  • Split Body

Garage Door :

  • Opening up the side of the yacht offers a huge amount of additional possibilities to the yacht, such as tender storage, beach clubs and others.
  • The main difference between a door and a hatch is that a door is located vertically while a hatch is located horizontally. The outside of the doors follows the shape of the hull, while the inside is level and straight.
  • The doors can be electric or hydraulically driven and opened horizontally or vertically to give maximum flexibility.

Tools used:

  • Sketch
  • Extrude Cut
  • Shell
  • Fillet
  • Mirror
  • Text

Seat:

  • The seat is used to make a comfortable settle
  • And also we can use it as a robe to keep our things

Tools used:

  • Sketch
  • Surface Sweep
  • Surface Offset
  • Ruled surface
  • Surface Knit
  • Surface Extend
  • Surface trim
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Loft
  • Chamfer
  • Fillet
  • Sweep
  • Mirror
  • Revolve
  • Dome

Rear seat:

Superstructure:

  • A superstructureis an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of the building or platform in a distinct manner.
  • superstructuremeans to add a construction to an already existing structure.
  • In ships this is the name given to the part of the ship that emerges from the deck.

Tools used:

  • Sketch
  • Surface Extrude
  • Surface Sweep
  • Surface Knit
  • Fillet
  • Ruled Surface
  • Surface Trim
  • Surface Loft
  • Surface Extend
  • Boss Extrude
  • Dome Feature
  • Sweep
  • Extrude Cut
  • Chamfer
  • Project Curve
  • Mirror

Radar Mast:

  • Radar mast is used to detect other ships and land obstacles, to provide bearing and distance for collision avoidance and navigation at sea.

Tools used:

  • Sketch
  • Boss Extrude
  • Fillet
  • Revolve
  • Sweep
  • Project Curve
  • Chamfer
  • Mirror
  • Dome

Assembly of Yacht:

  • we have created different parts to create a Yacht.
  • And now the assembly part is done.
  • Each part requires a different mate option and some parts are in fixed condition.
  • So each parts got assembled by doing the following mate procedure.

Tools used:

  • Midplane Mate
  • Concentric Mate
  • Coincident Mate
  • Distance Mate

Rendering

  • Rendering is the process involved in the generation of a two-dimensional or three-dimensional image from a model by means of application programs.
  • Rendering is mostly used in architectural designs, video games, and animated movies, simulations.

Tools used:

  • Edit appearance
  • Edit scene
  • Edit decal
  • Integrated preview
  • Preview window
  • Final render
  • Option
  • Schedule render

Conclusion

In these challenges I have learned a lot of things like

  • projecting curves
  • Rendering
  • Different kinds of mates
  • Combining different material
  • Splitting different materials
  • Mirror
  • Sweep
  • Dome
  • Chamfer
  • This helped to improve my skills in solidworks.
