Assembly of Yacht
Goodmorning sir,
Introduction- In this project, I build the model of different parts of the yacht i.e Hull, Propeller, Radar, seats, radar-mast, and superstructure by using the different sketch, feature, and surface tools of Solidworks and assembled the part to model a Sunseeker yacht. and used photo view 360 to give a realistic view to yacht
Objective- Model the different parts of the Sunseeker Yacht by using SolidWorks
- Assemble the parts to model a yacht by using SolidWorks
- Do rendering to give a realistic view to Sunseeker Yacht by using Photo-View 360
The explanation for Parts-
Propeller-A propeller is a rotating fan-like structure which is used to propel the ship by using the power generated and transmitted by the main engine of the ship
In this we used
Revolve-Select the curve click on feature button and then click on revolve select the center of axis--also give the angle for revolve
Surface Loft-In it we need to select the profile and guide curve
Fillet-Click Fillet on the Features toolbar, or click Insert, Features, Fillet/Round.
Set the PropertyManager options. For constant radius fillets only, you can use the FilletXpert to add or modify fillets and to manage fillet corners.
Cut Extrude-Open a sketch on a face or plane, and sketch a profile of the cut. The profile can contain more than one closed contour. Click Extruded Cut or Revolved Cut (Features toolbar),
Curve pattern--The Curve Driven Pattern tool allows you to create patterns along a planar or 3D curve. To define the pattern, you can use any sketch segment, or the edge of a face (solid or surface), that lies along the plane.
Set Up camera-- for setting up the camera Go to insert>>view & cameras>> camera.
and select the different option according to your need
Radar-
In this we used
Boss extrude--
- Create a sketch.
- Click one of the extrude tools: Extruded Boss/Base. on the Features toolbar, or click Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude. Extruded Cut. on the Features toolbar, o
Sketch Pattern
- In an open sketch, click Linear Sketch Pattern. (Sketch toolbar) or Tools > Sketch Tools > Linear Pattern.
Cut Extrude--
Mirror--In a part, click Mirror (Features toolbar) or Insert > Pattern/Mirror > Mirror.
Fillet--
Hull-A hull is the watertight body of a ship or boat. The hull may open at the top, or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. Atop the deck may be a deckhouse and other superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast. The line where the hull meets the water surface is called the waterline.
Hull consists of different parts like- Hull base, waterline, railing structure,Windows, stairs, garage, keel etc
Features used--Projected curve--Surface Loft--surface trim--surface extrude--knit surface--Shell--Boss extrude--cut extrude--Fillet--Chamfer--Sweep--Revolve--Dome--Helix/Spiral--Linear pattern--Delete Face--3D sketch--Split--Split line--Surface offset--Mirror
Surface fill-Click Filled Surface on the Surfaces toolbar, or Insert > Surface > Fill.
- In the graphics area, under Patch Boundary, select each of the tangent edges around the hole for Patch Boundaries . ...
- Click OK .
Helix and spiral-We can create a helix or spiral curve in a part.
- In a part, do one of the following: Open a sketch and sketch a circle. Select a sketch that contains a circle. ...
- Click Helix and Spiral (Curves toolbar) or Insert > Curve > Helix/Spiral .
- Set values in the Helix/Spiral PropertyManager.
- Click .
Delete face-The 'Delete Face Feature' allows the user to efficiently remove faces by maintaining multi-selection facility. There are many options available within the delete feature – Delete, Delete and Patch, and Delete and Fill.
Offset surface-To create offset surfaces:
- Click Offset Surface (Surfaces toolbar) or Insert > Surface > Offset.
- In the PropertyManager: Select surfaces or faces in the graphics area for Surface or Faces to Offset . Set a value for Offset Distance. You can create an offset surface with a distance of zero. ...
- Click OK .
Split Line- To create a projection split line:
- Click Split Line. (Curves toolbar) or Insert > Curve > Split Line.
- In the PropertyManager, under Type of Split, select Projection.
- Under Selections, click A sketch for Sketch to Project. You can select multiple contours from the same sketch to split.
Surface Sweep-- It is similar to surface feature in we need to select the edge or and other entity and sweep path
Surface trim- It is used to remove the material from the surface. you can either select the keep selection option or remove selection and select the surface respectively
Surface loft- In it we need to select the profile and guide curve
Boundary surface- The boundary surface feature lets us create surfaces that can be tangent or curvature continuous in both directions (all sides of the surface).
Surnface Knit--. . Use the Knit Surface tool to combine two or more faces and surfaces into one. Knit surfaces absorb the surface bodies you used to create them
Projected curve-- Simply project curve is mating surface of extrude of the two curves which are drawn in different plane.
For this you can just click or curve(Available in feature tab)--Projected curve
You can just select the different sketch/Curve of which you need a projected curve.
Garage Door- It is a door for the garage of the hull.

SuperStructure-
A superstructure is an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of the building or platform in a distinct manner. ... Thus, superstructure means to add a construction to an already existing structure. In ships this is the name given to the part of the ship that emerges from the deck.
A superstructure is an upward extension of an existing structure above a baseline. This term is applied to various kinds of physical structures such as buildings, Bridges, or ships having the degree of freedom zero (in terms of theory of machines).

Assembly- Hull is fixed as base and by inserting part like front seat, middle seat, radar mast, and superstructure are automatically fixed in their position. back seat, propeller and radar is fixed by giving some mates.
Rendering-
My laptop was not supporting rending it was showing not responding for the assembly time i was able to render one image only for assembly. so I rendered components differently and add their image in the link. for assembly I setup camera and adjust the different scenes and take screenshot attached with the Link.
Add a camera by insert>>view &camera>> add camera
- Step 1: Select your file. First go, and select open a file to find your project. ...
- Step 2: Use the Photo View 360. select photo view 360. ...
- Step 3: Choose a color. To give a color to our piece, select edit appearance. ...
- Step 4: Make a Scene. Now I´ll add a scene to make more realistic the project. ...
- Step 5: Final step--Move your piece to give a correct orientation
Thank You
