Assembly of Yacht
INTRODUCTION
This project report discusses the design of Sunseeker Predator Yacht using solid work 2020 software I created 3D model of the Yacht. I made different solid work parts like Propeller, Radar, Hull, Garage Door, Front Seat, Middle Seat, Rear seat, Superstructure, Radar mast and finally assemble all this parts and made one solid model of the Yacht.
OBJECTIVE:
- The main aim of this project is to create a surface model of different yacht parts.
- To assemble the parts modeled using the SolidWorks 2020 software.
- To create a photorealistic model of the yacht and render the model using the SolidWorks visualize software.
YACHT
A Yacht is a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising or racing. There is no standard definition but yacht is opposed to a boat is about 10 meter in length and has cabin with amenities that accommodate overnight use, and have been judged to have aesthetic quality.
SUNSEEKER PREDATOR YACHT MODEL
The Yacht Model is desined using Surface and Solid Modelling Features in Solidworks 2018 and the parts involved in yacht are;
- Propeller
- Radar
- Hull
- Garage Door
- Front Seat
- Middle Seat
- Rear Seat
- Super Structure
- Radar Mast
1.PROPELLER
Features Used
- Revolve
- Cut Extrude
- Surface Loft
- Fillet
- Circular Pattern
Propeller has a centeral shaft and rotational blades. The Shaft is designed and the profile for blades is modelled using surface loft and circular pattern is made around the Shaft. This Model had Six blades shown below.

2) RADAR
Features Used
- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Fillet
- Mirror
- Sketch Driven Pattern
- Split Line
The Radar is Solid modelled and mirrored along the midplane to the extruded length. A sketch is drawn and projected using Split Line.
3) HULL
Features Used
- Project Curve
- Composite Curve
- Surface Loft
- Surface Extend
- Surface Trim
- Surface Fill
- Surface Knit
- Shell
- Boss- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Swept Boss
- Revolve Boss
- Dome
- Curve Pattern
- Linear Pattern
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Mirror
- Split
Hull forms the base part of the yacht and the complex modelling has some important parts like
- Hull base,
- Stern,
- Bow,
- Waterline,
- Keel,
- Rudder,
- Gun wale,
- Port,
- Star Board,
- Anchor,
- Railing handle,
- Garage Door Space,
- Stair and Stair Handles,
- Head Light,
- Cleats with Rope.
- Windows on port side and star board.
The Wooden decal is added on Main Floor, Stair, Stern and Hatch.

4) GARAGE DOOR
Features Used
- Split
- Shell
- Text
The garage door is obtained by split the solid body of garage space in Hull and the part is shell as door to close the space.

5) FRONT SEAT
Features Used
- Project Curve
- Swept Surface
- Loft Surface
- Ruled Surface
- Surface Extend
- Surface Knit
- Extrude
- Mirror
- Cut Extrude
- Fillet
- Chamfer
The Front Seat is placed at the bow space of the Hull at front of the super structure and has provision for Seating with Pillow and Spa bed for Jaccuzzi.

6)MIDDLE SEAT
The Middle seat is placed at the rear end of the super structure and has center table. This part modelled by Extrude, Surface Offset, Cut Extrude, Fillet, Chamfer.

7) REAR SEAT
- The Rear seat is designed as same way as front seat and the features involved were Curves, Surface Loft, Surface Rule, Surface Knit, Extrude, Mirror, Cut Extrude, Pattern, Swept Boss, Fillet.
- The Rear seat is placed above the stern and Garage space
The Main parts in this model are
- Main Seat Structure
- Gate
- Flag
8)SUPER STRUCTURE
Features Used
- Curve
- Surface Sweep
- Surface Rule
- Surface Extend
- Surface Extrude
- Surface Trim
- Surface Fill
- Surface Knit
- Offset Surface
- Sweep base
- Extrude Cut
- Extrude Boss
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Delete face
- Mirror
The Super structure is place above the Hull Main deck surface and involves surface modelling tools which provides room for operational and recreational activities and also accomodates the radar mast on the top. The Main parts involved are
- Main Structure
- Main Door with handles
- Windows
- Front Window with Wipers
- Jaccuzzi with Spa Beds

9) RADAR MAST
Features Used
- Extrude
- Revolve
- Cut Extrude
- Sweep Surface
- Fillet
- Chamfer
The Radar mast is placed above the offset surface of the Super Structure.

ASSEMBLY
- The Hull is Fixed as base and the other parts are automatically fixed above the main deck surface.
- The mate conditions for Propeller and Radar are given such that to allow rotational motion and fixed at two directions.
- Suitable Appearances and Decals are added to provide the aesthetic appearance to the vessel.

Rendering
- Rendering is done to get a realistic view of the modelled part/product. Here rendering is done with photoview 360.
- Before proceeding with rendering the model should be adjusted in such that it looks realistic.
- cameras are added and are adjusted to get the desired view. Edit scene command is used to get the required environment and options tab is used to give the additional effects. Colours are added according to requirements such as the face and body of the parts and components, in such a way that it looks good for the model.
- Rendering is done, and the images are shown below

Conclusion
Thus the Sunseeker Predator Yacht was successfully modelled using SolidWorks 2020 and rendered using photoview 360 and Solidworks Visualize.
