OBJECTIVE:

The aim is to make a 3D CAD model of a Yacht- Components and Assembly using SolidWorks and rendering using Photo View 360.

METHODOLOGY:

  1. Designing various Components/ Parts
  2. Assembly of Components/ Parts
  3. Applying Decals, Appearances, Camera, Lights, Scenes
  4. Rendering

PART MODELLING:

The chopper has following parts to be modelled-

  • Hull
  • Front Seat
  • Middle Seat
  • Rear Seat
  • Radar
  • Radar Mast
  • Superstructure
  • Propeller
  • Garage Door

a. Hull

It is the most significant aspect of the model as it is watertight body of a yacht. A structure might be open from the top or completely or halfway secured by a deck. The half of it is modeled and the other half is mirrored. The blueprint setup plays a vital role in the complete modeling of the Yacht. The line where water and hull meet is known as waterline.

Tools Used: revolve boss, extrude cut, projected curve, split line, shell, copy, delete face, mirror, lofted surface, extend surface, filled surface, extrude surface, trim surface and knit.

b. Front Seat

It is comparatively easy to model and requires less time. It is arranged at the front finish of structure with the goal that individuals can appreciate the view while cruising on yacht.

Tools Used: revolve boss, extrude cut, fillet, dome, mirror, lofted surface, swept surface, extruded surface, filled surface, trim surface, knit surface.

c. Middle Seat

It is simple to model and principally requires information of extrude command and fillet/ chamfer options. It is located near the rear seat for sitting and chilling purposes.

Tools used: extrude boss, extrude cut, fillet, mirror, chamfer.

d. Rear Seat

It is similar to front seat in modeling but extra geometries like flag, gate, cup holder etc. seek additional sketches and features to be used. The flag is modeled using multiple spline sketches. It is located at the rear end of hull.

Tools Used: extrude boss, revolve boss, extrude cut, fillet, chamfer, mirror, lofted surface, swept surface, offset surface, ruled surface, trim surface, knit surface.

e. Radar

It is utilized for recognizing the presence, bearing, separation and speed of airplanes, ships and so forth. Radar is the least demanding aspect of the yacht. The name of the model can likewise be added utilizing text alternatives to give an extra satisfying look to the yacht.

Tools Used: extrude boss, extrude cut, sketch driven pattern, mirror, fillet, split line

f. Radar Mast

Radar is a discovery framework which uses radio waves to know the edge, separation, speed of an item coming moving towards or away from the yacht. It consists of a transmitting antenna, transmitter, receiving antenna. It uses a surface of Superstructure as a reference. Blueprint setup is used throughout the modeling of the part. One half is modeled and the other half is mirrored. The reference surface is hidden when the part is completed.

Tools used: Sweep, extrude boss, revolve boss, projected curve, dome, shell, mirror, fillet, chamfer

g. Superstructure

It is also one of the most complicated part of the yacht. It is an upward augmentation of a structure. They can have significant effect on the exhibition of the yacht. A great deal of outside highlights like jacuzzi, sundeck sleeping pads, wipers, and so on are constructed. The hull surface is used as reference for the superstructure.

Tools used: extrude boss, extrude cut, projected curve, split line, delete face, mirror, swept boss, chamfer, fillet, lofted surface, extend surface, filled surface, extruded surface, ruled surface, trim surface, knit surface.

h. Propeller

A mechanical device used for locomotion of a yacht, boat or an aircraft. It constitutes of a shaft and certain number of blades.

Tools Used: revolve boss/ base, extrude cut, fillet, circular pattern, lofted surface

i. Garage Door

This space is normally used to park vehicles at the rear and middle of yacht.

Tools Used: extrude cut, fillet, shell, extrude boss, mirror

ASSEMBLY:

All the parts have to be assembled together to obtain complete Yacht model.

CONCLUSION:

All the individual components of Yacht are modeled and assembled later to obtain the final model. Various tools like decals, camera setup, proper scenes are used to give a realistic appearance to the model while rendering.
