Application of Four bar mechanism in Simulation of Car trunk lid
Methodology -
- For the model, added points A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J with values same as that of the values in the demo to reduce the model complications.
- Then corresponding to the points cylinder graphics were added, Cylinder 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Cylinder 1 and 2 were assigned inertial properties as follower and coupler bodies, and for cylinder 3,4,5,6 were assigned inertial properties wrt input and center of gravity was shifted to point H.
- Now, three revolute joints were added at points A(on follower - ground body), B(on follower - coupler) and E(On input - ground body), and one inline joint at point D on body Coupler.
- As the basic model is ready, then imported motion curve from the excel curve. Added motion1 at joint three and assigned motion as a curve which was introduced.
- Imported CAD files of trunk and trunk lid and assigned input body and ground body to them respectively.
- Simulation was run and observed.
- After using collision detection, where the trunk was added to group 1 and trunk lid t group 2, the simulation was run by applying stop on collision .
- From collision detection time of collison was noted and motion curve was modified and used to simulate the results.
