ANALYSIS OF BUCKLING PHENOMENA OF CYCLONE SEPERATOR STAND
AIM: TO RUN A FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF BUCKLING PHENOMENA IN CYCLONE SEPERATOR STAND USING SOLIDWORKS SIMULATION.
OBJECTIVE:
- To create 3D model of Cyclone separator stand.
- To perform Buckling analysis simulation study for cyclone seperator stand without stiffener.
- To perform Buckling analysis simulation study for cyclone seperator stand with stiffener.
- To obtain the buckling factor of safety.
- To perform a Design study.
- To compare the results and to find the best position for stiffner.
OVERVIEW:
Cyclonic separation is a method of removing particulates from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation using the principle of inertia to remove particulate matter from flue gases. When removing particulate matter from liquid, a hydro cyclone is used; while from gas, a gas cyclone is used. Rotational effects and gravity are used to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. The method can also be used to separate fine droplets of liquid from a gaseous stream. use the principle of inertia to remove particulate matter from flue gases. Cyclone separators is one of many air pollution control devices known as precleaners since they generally remove larger pieces of particulate matter.
PROCEDURE:
Firstly, we will create 3D model of the Cyclone separator stand
Cyclone separator stand without stiffener
Cyclone separator stand with stiffener
Now we will create a new study with Buckling Analysis and Provide the material, as Alloy steel
Providing the Fixture geometry
Load is applied, as -
Creating mesh
Then we will run the simulation
Now we can find the Factor of safety by clicking on the results section, as -
This procedure will be followed for both the parts.
Then we will perform a Design study for the cyclone separator with stiffener to find the best position of the stiffener, as –
RESULTS:
Study-1 (Cyclone separator stand without stiffener)
Buckling Amplitude
Factor of safety
Study-2 (Cyclone separator stand with stiffener)
Buckling Amplitude
Factor of safety
COMPARISON BY DESIGN STUDY:
Data
Plot
CONCLUSION:
We can conclude from the above comparison plot that the factor of safety increases as the distance is increased, reaches at peak and then decreases.
So, Factor of safety is highest (17.51422) at position ‘900 mm’, that is the best position for the stiffener.
