Analysis & Design of RCC shear walls in the model using ETABS

Please find attached copy of answer sheets

The etabs file for a G + 6 Building is provided. Run the analysis and design the RCC shear walls ( show in the etabs model). The following challenge deal specifically with the shear wall of size 300x1500 at grid A – 11 in the structural model.

  • Extract values of longitudinal steel ratio from the design results.
  • Provide cross sectional steel arrangement of the shear wall from its base up to terrace, in compliance with provisions of IS 13920-2016. Auto cad application can be used for this exercise. Alternatively, it can drawn by hand as well.
  • Provide elevation drawings of the reinforcement details of the shear wall from base up to terrace.
  • The ETABS file for a G+6 building was download
  • Turn off all views except shear wall and check the wall section
  • Before run check the load combination and say OK.
  • The model run for analysis by Click analysis command
  • After run analysis the model was run for Shear wall design Click
  • check for shear wall design click arrow button, Display design info output Identify P M failure.
  • Right Click on shear wall along Gird A-11 which was shear wall P1

5)Reinforcement details are shown below when cursor on shear wall No P1 Area of steel required

6) Right Click on beam Gird A-11 which is Shear wall No P1 dialog box will open in that click detail

7)Shear wall along grid A-11

8) At foundation level Ast = 13128mm2 required 26Nos 25mm bar Hence provide 28Nos 25mm longitudinal

Up to first floor

At first level Up to Terrace Ast = 4996mm2 required 25Nos 20mm bar Hence provide 28Nos 16mm longitudinal

Shear reinforcement Ast = 800mm2 10mm bar @ 100mm c/c Spacing

Detail Reinforcement for Shear P1 along grid A-11

9) shear reinforcement and lapping details as per special confining reinforcement provision of clause 8.1 of IS 13920.
