Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II

Project Title: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_Bracket_2.

Objective: To design the Bracket 2 using given requirements, in SIEMENS NX Sheet Metal Application.

Introduction:

Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly; extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate steel or "structural steel".

Methodology:

Description:

  1. NX Cad 12.0 software tool is opened and click new in the quick access tool bar.
  2. A new modal popup appears. Choose Sheet metal and save the part names Bracket 2.
  3. Select the XZ plane. And draw what is shown.
  4. Using a counter flange feature select the drawn sketch and create the counter flange of 158mm width.
  5. Select the model and sketch on the model using the required dimensions and use normal cut feature to cut the part.
  6. Use break corner feature to cut the corners of 4.5mm radius.
  7. Use Normal cutout feature to cut the part excluding the non-sketched part.
  8. Use Normal cutout feature to cut the circle and some rectangles by referring the 2D-sketch.
  9. Use break corner feature to cut the corners of 4 mm radius.
  10. Use Unbend feature to unbend the bend part.
  11. Create the sketch on the YZ plane.
  12. Use the normal cutout feature to cut the part.
  13. Rebend the model.
  14. Break the corners at radius of 12mm, 5mm and 10mm.
  15. Use advanced flange feature to add flange of 5mm length and bend radius of 3mm.
  16. Unbend the model.
  17. Create a hole on the model using the hole feature, also cut some parts using the sketch and add advance flange using the advance flange feature of length of 4mm.
  18. Rebend the model.
  19. Use gusset feature select the bend face and specify the location of depth of 5mm and legend dimensions as 8mm width, 4.5degree side angle and 2.5mm die radius.
  20. End the exercise.
