Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_6_Bracket
Design of Bracket in NX cad Sheet Metal Application
Objective :
The main objective of this project is to design the bracket from 2D drawing using NX cad Sheet Metal Application.
Introduction:
The Bracket design is done with the inputs from the given 2D drawing. The Design is compeleted by using some basic options which is avaliable in the Sheet Metal Application workbench. The commands used for this design are Contour Flange, Normalcutout, Break corner, Bead, Hole, Unbend and Rebend.
The given 2D drawing is:
Design Methodology:
Description:
Step 1: Sketch creation
The Front view sketch is created in the XZ plane.
Step 2: Contour Flange
After sketch creation, the contour Flange command is used to create the base feature. Contour Flange is used to create a base feature by extruding a sketch along a vector, or adds material by sweeping a sketch along an edge or chain of edges.
Step 3: Normal Cut out
The sketch is created in the XY plane and the Normal cut operation is done to remove the material. Normal cut out is the command that cuts the material by projecting a sketch onto the model and then cutting perpendicular to the faces intersected by the projection.
Step 4: Break Corner
After the cut out operation, the sharp edges are blended by the command called Break corner. This command Rounds or chamfer the sharp corner of a tab or flange.
Step 5: Creating Bead
For creating the bead, skecth is drawn as per the dimension after unbending the sheet metal, since bead is present in the bending surface.
Bead : This command Lifts the material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool. The depth is given as per the drawing and the local radius is measured after Rebending the sheet metal.
Step 6 : Hole Creation
The sketch is drwan as per the dimension for the hole creation. Then the simple through hole is used to make the holes. The distance between the two holes is measured and captures using Measure distance command avaliable in the Analysis tab.
