Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_6_Bracket
Project Title: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_6_Bracket.
Objective: To design the Bracket using given requirements, in SIEMENS NX Sheet Metal Application.
Introduction:
Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly; extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate steel or "structural steel".
Sheet metal is available in flat pieces or coiled strips. The coils are formed by running a continuous sheet of metal through a roll sitter.
NX Sheet Metal: Creating fast, accurate flat patterns is the goal of any organization that manufactures products which contain sheet metal parts. NX Sheet Metal provides a set of tools within the NX design environment that allows for simple and fast design of sheet metal parts, dependent on their material and manufacturing process, the most common of which is straight brake sheet metal forming.
Methodology:
Description:
- NX Cad 12.0 software tool is opened and click new in the quick access tool bar.
- A new modal popup appears. Choose Sheet metal and save the part names Bracket.
- Select the XZ plane. And draw what is shown.
- Using a counter flange feature select the drawn sketch and create the counter flange of 200mm width.
- Select the top view i.e., XY plane and draw the sketch.
- Now create a flange on the newly created flange of 70mm length.
- Use Normal cutout feature to cut the part excluding the non-sketched part.
- Break the multiple corners with radius of 25mm, 30mm and 60mm.
- Sketch on the Top view on XY plane draw the bead center line.
- Use Unbend feature to unbend the bend part.
- Create the bead of 7mm and radius of 7mm.
- Rebend the model.
- Use the local Radius feature to measure the minimum and maximum radius.
- Create the hole on the top with. Draw the hole positions.
- End the exercise.

Conclusion:
At a result created model of Bracket is created. Learnt creating tab, flange, Normal cutout, bead, hole, break corner, local radius, and bend, unbend and Rebend.
