Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure
Odd Shaped Enclosure
Objective:
To design a Sheet Metal part for odd shapes using Siemens NX Sheet Metal Application.
Introduction:
The sheetmetal application provides an environment for the design of sheetmetal parts using various tools and features.
Design Approach:
Workflow for the design of Sheetmetal Enclosure for odd shapes.
1. Create a solid body
2. Wrap the solid body with sheet metal.
3. Add features such as flanges, jogs or bends.
4. Unbend to add more features such as beads, holes, cutouts etc.
5. Rebend the unbend areas.
6. Create a flat pattern.
Description:
The Design of Odd shaped enclosure involves various features and tools.
1. Sketch:
This command is used to create the 2D sketch of the model.
2.Extrude:
This command is used to creates a feature by extruding a section along a vector.
3. Sheetmetal From Solid:
This command builds a sheet metal model that takes its shape from the collection of planar faces.
4. Flange:
This command is used to add a flat flange at an angle to the planar face and add a bend between the two.
5. Jog:
This command modifies the model by lifting material on one side of a sketch line, adding a flange betwwen the two sides.
6. Unbend:
This command is used to unbend or flat material to add some more features.
7. Bead:
This command is used to lift the material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool.
8. Hole:
This command is used to create hole in the part with standard values.
9. Rebend:
This command restores an unbent feature to its previous bent state, along with any features added after the unbend feature.
10. Flat Pattern:
This command creates a flat pattern feature from the formed sheetmetal part.
11. Base View:
Creates the model based view on the drawing sheet.

Conclusion:
1. Sheetmetal Enclosure is created using NX sheetmetal application.
2. Detailed drawing sheet and standard view are attached.
3. The model is rendered using NX ray traced studio.
