Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

Title of the Project: Sheet Metal part for odd shapes

Objective: To get sheet metal part from a solid body by using the Sheet Metal from solid body command

Introduction

The term “sheet metal” refers to any metal that can be formed into flat pieces of varying thicknesses. Thick metals are called plates. Metals used in the sheet metal industry include cold rolled steel, mild steel, stainless steel, tin, nickel, titanium, aluminum, brass, and copper.

Using specialized tools, sheet metal workers cut, roll, bend, and shape these pieces to make a wide variety of objects

Design methodology/approach

Description (Need to explain tools/ Features used while designing)

Create a Sketch in XY plane and dimension it

Extrude the geometry with extrude command to form a solid out of the sketch

Use the Sheet metal from solid command to wrap the sheet metal onto the solid body to get the required shape.

select the faces which we needed and after that select the edges from where the sheet will need to bend in order to get the sheet metal part.

The flange is added at one end by the use of the flange command

lift one side of the sheet metal part through a defined line.

Then the unbend command (It flatten the sheet into a blank so that the required features can be added) is used to include other features like bead normal cutouts dimples etc

Then after applying the necessary operations the sheet is then again rebent to get the required output.

A flat pattern is created with the help of flat pattern command for drafting which is later on used for manufacturing
