Challenge

Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

OBJECTIVE

Design the model in sheet metal using suitable commands

INTRODUCTION

NX is a widely used Computer Aided Designing software for multi-purposes like designing, engineering, and manufacturing. It used in various fields for different works. Using different features and methods we have designed here.

METHODLOGY

DESCRIPTION:

  • Sketching - Making a 2d drawing such as curves, arcs, circles, points, rectangles and many options to create a drawing or to create features for upcoming designing.
  • Extrude - It is to make the 2d sketch in a 3-dimensional body or object by defining its thickness.
  • Sheet metal from solid - It converts the solid shaped part to shaped sheet metal, and is available in only sheet metal application.
  • Flange - it adds an angular or flat surface on the edge of the surface to create an extended surface with the required directions.
  • Jog - It modifies the sketch by living on the one side and adds flange of required length between the two end sides.
  • Unbend - It is to flatten the bend sheet metal to form a flat sheet. It helps in making an extra feature like bead, normal cutout on the sheet metal after bending.
  • Bead - This is to create a contour shaped accordingly to their sketch in the required direction with required punch/die radius,
  • Hole - It is to create a hole on the sketch, or to create a counterbored, countersink and several hole options to do.
  • Bead - It is to create a contour or projection on the sheet, as respected with the create sketch.
  • Flat pattern - It creates the flat pattern of the sheet metal in a separate sheet for its dimensions and details of the model.
