Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly

SHEETMETAL BOX ASSEMBLY

Objective: To design Sheet Metal Box Assembly casing using Siemens NX Sheetmetal Application.

Introduction: The sheetmetal application provides an environment for the design of sheetmetal parts using various tools and features.

Design Approach: Workflow for the design of Sheetmetal Box Assembly .

1. Sketch the 2D shape of the casing.

2. Construct the Base feature.

3. Add feature such as flanges or bends.

4. Unbend the part and add other features such as dimple, hole, cutuots etc.

5. Rebend and add some other features.

1. Sketch:

This command is used to create the 2D sketch of the casing.

2. Tab:

This command is used to create the base feature by extruding the sketch along a vector by a thickness value or by adding material to existing faces.

3. Flange:

This command is used to add a flat flange at an angle to the planar face and add a bend between the two.

4. Closed Corner:

The closed corner command is used to modify two flanges in one operation and close the corner where the two flanges meet.

5. Hem flange:

This command is used to modify an edge of a sheet metal part by folding it onto itself for the purpose of safe handling or to increase the edge stiffness.

6. Mirror Body:

This command is uesd to copy a body and mirror it along a plane.

7. Unite:

this command combines the volume of two or more solid bodies into a single body.

8. Dimple:

This comman is used to lift the area of the model inside a sketch that simulates as a stamping tool. We can create an indentation in a sheetmetal part using a sketched section as the dimple outline.

9. Mirror Feature:

This command is uesd to copy a feature and mirror it along a plane.

10. Bead:

This command is used to lift the material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool.

11. Break Corner:

This command is used to round or chamfer the sharp corners of a tab or flange.

12. Unbend:

This command is used to unbend or flat material to add some more features.

13. Normal Cutout:

This command is used to create the cutout to the material by projecting a sketch onto the model and then cutting perpendicular to the faces intersected by the projection.

14 Rebend:

This command restores an unbent feature to its previous bent state, along with any features added after the unbend feature.

Conclusion:

1. Sheetmetal Box Assembly is created using NX sheetmetal application.

2. All the photos of standard views are attached.

3. The model is rendered using NX ray traced studio.
