Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_1_Casing Design

TITLE : NX SHEET METAL CASING

OBJECTIVE :

To create a casing design using various functions in NX Sheetmetal part.

INTRODUCTION :

Casing can be understood as an enclosing or a shell used to protect something. In this challenge, we had to model a casing based on the basic functions of NX.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY :

SIEMENS NX --> CREATE A TAB --> NORMAL CUTOUT --> BEND --> FLANGES --> CORNERS --> UNBEND --> HOLES(mirror across the part) --> DIMPLE --> BEADS (mirror across the part) --> REBENDING --> DRAFTING.

DESCRIPTION :

A peculier feature while modeling the casing that I learned was unbending and rebending. The flow in which we unbend the bends should be the reverse while rebending so I had to note down the sequence on unbend and follow it in reverse while re-bending.

Another interesting feature I came across while designng was the DIMPLE and the STUDIO SPLINES to get the intended shape. In studio splines, basically you jave to select all the closed points to get the intended curve and the way it transforms gives you a clear idea of how it is going to look.

P.S. The views uploaded are default views selected in the NX version. Since the axis of my design is slightly opposite the views are in this manner.

CONCLUSION :

Thus the Casing part was created using various features.
