Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad _Casing Design
Title of the Project:
Advanced Sheet metal design using Siemens NX CAD of Casing_Design of Sheet Metal Part.
Objective:
To Design the Casing Sheet metal part using Sheet metal tools and drafting the part in flat pattern view for manufacturing and Design purpose.
Introduction:
Siemens NX is a software used for multiple engineering disciplines like CAD/CAM/CAE modules.
NX Sheet Metal Design is used for Design and Drafting of Sheet metal parts with its user friendly handy tools that converts the input sketches to desired design requirements and checks for the manufacturing feasibiltiy of the designed sheet metal part by flattening the part.
Design Methodology:
Description:
1) Create the Rectangular sketch and use the Tab tool of 1mm default for all the part design.
2) Use the normal cutout tool for a rectangle shape sketch and then use Bend tool to bend the sheet part on both sides.
3) Use Flange tool on all the four corners of the part and apply Break corners tool on all the edges of the flange.
4) Use the Unbend tool to unbend the part completely and use Hole tool to perform screw clearance hole on four faces of the flange part.
5) Draw the skecth required for the Dimple operation by using Dimple tool and use Bead tool to perform bead operation and then Use the Mirror feature tool to apply bead on four corners of the part.
6) Use the Re-Bend tool to bring the part to the original shape and apply the Flat pattern tool to the part which completes the Sheet metal design of Casing.
7) Finally, draft the part by using the Drafting command and use the Flat Pattern view of the Casing part which shows all the dimensional parameters of the Casing part.
Conclusion:
Design of Casing- Sheet metal part is designed with the use of tools which includes Base Tab, Flanges, Bend, Re-Bend, Normal Cutout, Dimple, Bead, Break corner, Hole , Unbend and Flat Pattern sheet metal. By this application, widened the conversant knowledge of sheet metal tools on any sheet metal part design.
