WEEK 9 CHALLENGE CREATE COONECTORS AND ATTACH IN VARIOUS PARTS

OBJECTIVES:

  • To Create connector and Attach the various parts of the given model
  1. Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Seam-Quad (angled+capped+L)
  2. Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Quad elements
  3. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1: - Spot weldwith 3 Layers and 5 mm Diameter
  4. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1:- Hexa (Adhesive)
  5. Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
  6. Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
  7. Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2:- Spot-weld with Rigid Elements
  8. Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2:- Spot-weld withSpring Elements
  9. Rest all the component left Join them with suitable connectors

PROCEDURE:

  • Import the given model files into hypermesh.

  • Connectors are used to connect the elements of two different components.
  • Each 1D, 2D and 3D elements have their connectors in their panels.
  • To open connectors panel in project tree view – browser – hypermesh – connectors , here you can see the properties and realise the connectors.
  1. Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Seam-Quad (angled+capped+L)
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – seam – select node list – comp – type= angled+capped+l – give spacing and tolerance – create.

  1. Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1:- Quad elements
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – seam – select node list – comp – type= quad – give spacing and tolerance – create.

  1. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1:- Spot weldwith 3 Layers and 5 mm Diameter
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – spot – select node list – comp – type= weld – give diameter, layers and tolerance – create.

  1. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1:- Hexa (Adhesive)
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – seam – select node list – comp – type= hexa adhesive – give width, layers and tolerance – create.

  1. Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
  2. Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2:- Bolt Connector
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – bolt – select node list – comp – type= bolt(general) – give tolerance – create.

  1. Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2:- Spot-weld with Rigid Elements
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – spot – select node list – comp – type= rigid– give diameter, layers and tolerance – create.

  1. Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2:- Spot-weld withSpring Elements
  • Display the above two components and hide the other components.
  • Go to 2D – connectors – spot – select node list – comp – type= spring – give diameter, layers and tolerance – create.

  1. Rest all the component left Join them with suitable connectors
  • Rest of the component are joined with plot, rigid, bar and quad connectors.

RESULT AND CONCLUSION:

  • Learnt how to use connectors in 2D elements and connect two different components using suitable connectors.
