WEEK 10 CHALLENGE BATCH MESHING AND ASSIGNING NON-LINEAR MATERIAL PROPERTY

OBJECTIVES:

• To Perform Batch-meshing on the following components with the given criteria and assign the non-linear material property Steel to them.
• Using Radioss profile for assigning the material properties
• Quality Criteria:-

Target Element Length = 5mm

PROCEDURE:

• Batch meshing is a meshing process in which hypermesh perform mid-surface, geometry cleanup and meshing the component with required criteria automatically.
• Import the given three model files in hypermesh.
• Delete the solid if any in the component delete – solid.

• The components are meshed separately so display the required component and hide rest of them.
• In batchmesh parent component will be deleted during generation of midsurface, so make a duplicate if need by tool – organize.
• To create element quality criteria, go to preference – criteria file setting assign the required criteria and save them.

• To create parameter setting go to preference – parameter file setting assign the required parameter criteria and save them.

• Then go to 2D – automesh – batchmesh/QI optimize – element size – browse parameter and criteria files – select the surface – mesh.

• Ensure the quality by 2D – quality index.
• Check the criteria by 2D – check elem.

• To assign the material right click on the project tree – create – material.
• Rename the material steel assign the card image as M2_PLAS_JHONS_ZERIL for non-linear material.

• The assign the material properties such as young’s moduls, poison ratio, yield strength etc.. ensure that the properties are in GPa.

• To assign the property right click on the project tree – create – property.
• Then give the card image and thickness for the component
• The assign the material and the property to that component

DEMERITS OF BATCHMESH:

• Only 70% to 80% of the mesh flow quality will be achieved, it performed which we satisfy with that quality.
• Many trias will be created in the elements.

• Many round elements will be generated.

• Featuring capturing will not be good.

• Duplicate surface and elements will be created.

RESULT AND CONCLUSION:

• Learnt how to use batchmesh and assign property to non-linear materials.
