Project

Volume meshing of Turbo charger using ANSA

OBJECTIVE

The dynamic motivate is to mesh the model of Turbocharger with the tools taught over in lecture and the clearing in the Topological error and geometrical error and performance of the turbocharger by using volumetric meshing.

PROCEDURE

SEGMENTS OF OPERATION

SEG-A --> Cleaning Topological and geometrical error.

SEG-B --> Surface meshing and cleaning up error in the interface between two faces of meshing.

SEG-C --> Volumetric meshing.

SEGMENT A- Topological error cleaning and geometrical error flushing,

    • Importing base file and converting into as for the workspace and to the PID region to get the details of the model part into different each PID. hence to build enhanced view cleaning up, patching the hole along the face and filling up the face is to be a flawless approach.
    • Glitching of another part in model
    • USED TOOLS
      • Parametriacal ways
      • patching using COONS with alternate way defined by an algorithm.
      • compressor tool
    • Assigning Property for the different parts of the model like
      • compressor part
        • inlet
        • outlet
        • casing
        • blade stage 1
        • blade stage 2
      • impeller part
        • impeller blade
        • casing
        • inlet
        • outlet
    • compressing the decks into prompt view in the model.

Glitching Parametrical way to create an appropriate face with create nodes

  • After creating the nodes creating the face with an alternate way to have the face over with selected node or entities.

SEGMENT B- Meshing the model in the surface of it with different PID\'s rationale,

    • According to the different PID\'s stipulation, the size of the element size differs so
    • the different size of the element size used here
      • 1unit
        • compressor blade stage 1
        • compressor blade stage 2
        • shaft rotor
        • inlet
          • compressor
          • impeller
        • outlet
          • compressor
          • impeller
      • 2unit
        • impeller blade
      • 5unit
        • casing
          • compressor
          • impeller

  • Interface error inside parts PID\'s Assigned
    • Due to in size of meshing element the interface between two parts which is connected together will have some miscalculation over in meshing those associated two parts. Making it clear with that concatenation over the meshing, Then surface mesh will be fair after having the interface connect using some tools.
      • USED TOOLS
        • Intersect
        • TOPO
        • cut
        • project
    • after completion of every aspect move towards the volume with Geometry checks and surface meshing check using checks manager.
    • Amount of element created in trias 1031568

SEGMENT C- Volume meshing

    • The Volume meshing could be done only after the surface meshing is done and checked with errors.
    • And the whole component is to be closed to have volume inside it to get calculating CFD flow analysis
    • By defining it, The model has to be clear with unwanted volume which tends to cause unnecessary work over in volume meshing.
    • volume mesh creation
      • In module tab > v.mesh> volumes> Define > click ok (for Whole db)
      • After the run it displays the volume detected in it and after deletion of unwanted volumes to have meshed
      • The volume is to be executed
    • After meshing in volume with tetra as in surface meshing used with tria elements
    • Amount of elements created in tetra 10833657

volume and surface meshing volume meshing

ERRORS IN SURFACE MESH

Using the checks manager for surface mesh the error occurred

        • Penetration: proximities -- This error occurred due to the covered inlet and the interface that two surface connected is having the different element size. so that error which occurred due to having element size variation can be neglected.
        • Mesh on tria -- Warning on corner Angle of the trais which makes the surface error because trais are 2-D meshing.
        • Mesh Quality -- This is because variation in size of element differs for different PID\'s specified to it.

CONCLUSION

Thus the meshing of the given model of the turbocharger has been done with the help of given lecture. I have noted that the thing which may cause the error because of having one more single CONS. And while Meshing the model with different size of elements with specified different PID\'s assigned to the Geometry of the turbocharger will have some sort of negligible surface error. Though the surface error is been neglected the volume mesh is done. Hence the Volume mesh is completed with CFD structured model.
