Vehicle underbody coating
Under body coating is done to provide protection to the vehicle\'s underbody component i.e. Chasis & floor pan. This treatment is designed to provide long-term protection from corrosion to the under chassis
Aim : Main aim is to provide protection to the automotive components like Chasis & floor pan from environmental conditions. It also protects parts like internal body panels, frame rails and other inner cavities that are not physically accessible but are prone to corrosion.
Advantages :
- Minimizes Sound : It minimizes the sound from underneath the car resulting a noiseless, smooth driving experience.
- Heat Insulation : It insulates the interior of the car from extreme temperatures from beneath the vehicle providing a comfortable cabin experience.
- Insulation against heat and cold.
- Anti-chipping property : If any stone hits the coating it does not get chipped away hence protects the underbody from exposure to water.
Disdvantages :
- Production cost increases which leads to increase in overall vehicle cost.
- Increase in production time.
- Requirement of Jigs and Fixtures for manufacturer.
- Can be done at the vehicle manufacturing stage only.
- Due to high cost only applied to premium vehicles.
- Requires major process setup.
Conclusion :
- Underboady coating is thus very important aspect when considering the vehicle body protection.
