Using lines creating the mesh and extracting the CAD surface from the FE model using Hypermesh
Objective:
- Using the available lines, create the mesh for the bottle.
- Mesh the given component for the mentioned element size.
- From the given FE model to extract the CAD surface.
Introduction:
- CAE is a process used to verify or simulate through computers instead of manually tesing it by proto-type.CAE tools are very widely used in the automotive industry. In fact, their use has enabled the automakers to reduce product development cost and time while improving the safety, comfort, and durability of the vehicles they produce.Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the broad usage of Computer software to aid in engineering analysis tasks. It includes (FEA),(CFD), (MBD), durability and optimization.
- Linear analysis is a case where the load-Displacement response is linear. That is, the stiffness matrix remains constant throughout the simulation. There is a linear relationship b/w the applied forces and the response of the s/m. In addition to the stiffness matrix being constant, it is enough if the stiffness matrix is calculated only once. When the stiffness matrix keeps on changing, it gives rise to non linear simulation. In addition to the stiffness matrix being non-constant, it has to be calculated multiple times in the course of the non-linear analysis.
- Principle of superposition is possible in linear analysis and not possible in non linear analysis.
- Non linear analysis is solved by N-R technique and it requires multiple iterations in each incrementation to arrive at a converged result. Each non linear iteration is comparable to a complete linear analysis in cost.
- You can use a Fixed or automation time incrementation scheme for linear analysis cases. But, you can only use a automatic time incrementation scheme for non linear analysis.
- Node is apoint where the properties are defined and determined for an element. Therfore location of node is very important. If the body has no discontinuity, than the body can be divided into equal number of elements and hence the spacing of the nodes can be uniform. On the other hand, if the body has discontinuity such as discontinuity in loading, discontinuity in geometry, or discontinuity in material propetries, then the nodes have to be introduced or placed at those discontinuity.
-
Discretization process means dividing the given geometry or problem into smaller regions called elements.
Type of the element:
- 1 D Element
- 2 D Element
- 3 D Element
- Axis symmetric Element
-
These elements are suitable for the 2-D analysis such as plane stress and plane strain. These are also known as the plane elements. Commonly used 2-D elements are the triangular elements and quadrilateral elements. The three noded triangular elements are the first 2-D element used in two-dimensional analysis. These three noded triangular elements are known as the constant strain triangular or linear displacement triangular element because the displacement over these elemnts is linear in nature.
Also, the triangular elements can have six nodes. These six noded triangular elements are known as linear strain triangular or quadratic displacement triangular elements because the displacement variation over these element is parabolic or non linear in nature.
- Below shown are the 2D elements of inital project.
Procedure:
- Initially there were three models were given in this project as shown below.
Model 1.
- Using the available lines Provided as shown below, created the mesh for the bottle.
- In the 2D there is a spin mesh used it to created the mesh for given element size .
- The complete path was slected using the line path to spin.
- Spin geometry using the line path and need to rotate in the z-axis and created the mesh as shown below.
- Using then spin create i.e spin + the bottle mesh was created.
Model 2.
The given geometry was imported .
using the automesh option meshed the model for the goven target length.
In few sides the geometry was overlapping the mesh as there was single elemnt in the side so created three elements and fixed them.
Below image shows the geometry line overlapping the mesh elements.
Below image shows the three elements made and fixed the surface and mesh.
finally the complete model was meshed and fixed the quality criteria using the clean up tools.
Model 3.
Using the Given FE model below the CAD surface was extracted using the Geomtry FE model extraction as sjown below in the image.
Conclusion :
- Meshed the models and created the elemnts for the target length.
- Extracted the CAD srface from the FE model.
