Understanding the utility of Projected curves feature and Revolved cut feature while making REAR WHEEL FRONT FORK

  • So first select the front plane. Now on Front plane sketch the below given sketch by using line tool, fillet tool and give them the proper dimensions and relations.
  • \"\"
  • So Now by using Revolved Boss / base feature revolve the sketch about an appropriate axis.
  • \"\"
  • Now select the right plane for making spoke and on Right plane make the below given sketch by using construction line, arc tool, line tool and mirror tool give them the proper dimension and relation as required.
  • Now use the extrude boss / base option and extrude the sketch by using midplane option. Now extrude it by 300 mm and make sure that you deselect the merge result.
  • Now make the below given sketch by using offset entities tool. Make sure that you offset the appropriate entities and then by using spline tool, construction line, power trim tool and mirror tool to make the below given sketch with appropriate dimensions and relations.
  • \"\"
  • Now by using extrude cut cut the unwanted part by selecting the appropriate contour make sure that you select the appropriate feature scope.
  • Now make three circle of 194, 298, 403 mm diameter and convert them into the construction Geometry also select the appropriate edge of spokes and create offset of one of the edges about 4.5 mm and then by using Arc tool create the appropriate arcs required.
  • Now apply the appropriate dimensions and relations to the arc and then create their offset. Give the distance of 8mm to the offset
  • Now extrude the resulted sketch by using extrude upto vertex option and select the appropriate vertex upto which you have to extrude that sketch so that a spider web structure could form
  • Now use circular pattern and select the spider web structure and create 3 instances of it inside Rim by selecting the any circular edge.
  • Now select the inside part of rim and by using the intersection curve tool create intersection curves, delete the unwanted one and by using the required one create the below given sketch by using spline tool, construction line, line tool and mirror tools make sure that you applied the correct dimensions and relations to the sketch.
  • \"\"
  • Use revolve cut option, select the appropriate sketches to create circular cuts.
  • Apply fillet of 3 mm at the required places
  • Now on right plane make a circle of 60 mm and by using cut extrude create a hole at the centre of the wheel.
  • Now for Axle l made the below given sketch by using spline tool and line tool and gave them the appropriate dimension and relation.
  • \"\"
  • Now by using revolved Boss / base option revolve the sketch about appropriate axis to form Axle
  • Now create a 7 mm of disk at a particular or a certain offset distance. that disc will be the rotor of the wheel and on that disc make 4 small circles with required alignment and dimension.
  • Now by using extrude cut create a cut on the disc by using appropriate sketch. then by using circular pattern create the same cuts with the required number of instances of that cut on the disc
  • Now by using circle tool and line tool make the required sketch and by using that sketch contour create a cut in the disc. Apply fillet at its corners Now by using circular pattern create the 9 instances on disc.
  • Now for caliper we use Line tool and circle tool for making the required sketch and by giving the proper dimension & relation we will extrude it to make caliper.
  • Now using extrude Boss/Base option create an extrude at offset distance of 3.5 mm of 30 mm by using midplane option.
  • Now apply chamfer by using distance distance option. Use the appropriate value to create chamfer at both side of the caliper
  • Now apply plate of 4 mm wherever needed.
  • For sprocket create 320 mm of circle at the end of Axle and extrude it 15 mm towards Rotor
  • Now apply chamfer of 4 millimetre 45 degree at the circular edges
  • Now on the outer surface of sprocket we will make the cut away sketch. So make the below given sketch with appropriate dimensions & relation.

\"\"

  • Now by using extrude cut, cut it by using appropriate feature scope.
  • Apply fillet of 2.2 mm at appropriate place. Now by using Circular pattern we will create 60 instances of the cut we have made.
  • Make Below given sketch with appropriate dimensions and relations & by using that sketch create a cut through the sprocket by using extrude cut option.

\"\"

  • Now again make required sketch by using circles and offset tool and extend entities tool.
  • \"\"
  • Now create an extrude cut by using that sketch we have made by using extrude cut option and apply fillet of 1 mm at the outer edges of those cut.
  • Now by using circular pattern make 7 such instances on the sprocket.
  • Now on Front plane select the outermost face of Rim and by using intersection curve tool get intersection lines. Delete the unwanted one and by using one of the intersection curve make the below given sketch by using Arc tool & line tool.

\"\"

  • Now Revolve that sketch by using an appropriate temporary axis.
  • Now again on Front plane make the below given sketch by using rectangle tool and give the proper dimensions and relations.

\"\"

  • Now create an extrude cut by using cut extrude feature at an offset distance of about 400 mm and select the outside face of the tire and for cutting depth give value of 6 mm.
  • Apply fillet of 4 mm at the appropriate places.
  • Using circular pattern create 9 instances of it.
  • Now apply the appropriate appearances to all the parts of tyre. Apply matte rubber for Tyre apply siena to caliper and for other parts apply chromium plate.
  • Now save the model.

  1. First select the part template from the ultimate solidworks template.
  2. Now on Frontplane make the below given sketch make sure that you provide the right dimensions and relation to the sketch.

\"\"

  1. Revolve sketch about the appropriate axis by using revolved boss / based feature.
  2. Now on right plane make the required sketch by using circle tool, line tool and power trim tool and give them the appropriate dimension and relation.
  3. Now extrude the sketch by 40 mm using Boss extrude feature at an offset distance of 20 mm towards fork
  4. Apply fillet of 5mm wherever needed.
  5. Now by using linear pattern create the clamp along the fork, create only one instance of it at the distance of 240 mm
  6. Now on Front plane about 70 mm away from origin on the fork create a circle of 40 mm and by using extrude feature extrude it up to the clamps end surface.
  7. Now on right plane over the clamp make a semicircle and extrude it in between the Clamps and make sure that you merge it with clamps.
  8. Now for headlights on Front plane make the below given sketch with appropriate dimensions and relation.

\"\"

  1. Now by using revolve feature use that sketch and revolve it to create a round extruded version of the sketch.
  2. Now at the circular face of the headlight use convert entities tool and offset entities tool to create two circles having 4mm distance between them.
  3. Now using extrude cut feature create extrude cut of 10 mm which is 5 degree tape.
  4. Apply fillet of 3mm wherever needed.
  5. Now at the internal circular face of headlight create a dome of 7 mm which should be elliptical dome
  6. Apply fillet of 1 mm wherever needed.
  7. Now for giving more finish to the headlights make the required sketch by using line tool, construction line and also intersection curve tool and then by using cut revolve feature create a revolve cut about the appropriate axis
  8. Now for handle on top plane make the below given sketch with appropriate dimensions and relations
  9. On Frontplane make the required sketch by using spline and construction line.
  10. Now use the above two sketches for projecting as single sketch so use them for projecting a single sketch.
  11. Now on the upper clamp surface make small circle of 35 mm diameter at the appropriate position give it the required dimension from reference.
  12. Now use the sweep Boss / base feature to sweep that circle along that projected curve
  13. Now create a plane along the diameter line of the end circular section of handle.
  14. Now create the below given sketch on that plane.

\"\"

  1. Now use revolve feature and create a revolve by using that sketch
  2. Now on the plane you have made handle bar on that same plane make a rectangle and revolved or extrude it about the appropriate axis by using revolve feature
  3. Now create a plane about 160 degree from the plane which you use to create handlebar and rectangular sketch. Now on that we will make the clutch.
  4. Make the below given sketch with the required dimensions & relation.

\"\"

  1. Extrude it with required value
  2. Apply fillet of 25 mm at the outward bending edge.
  3. Apply fillet of 5mm at the end off the clutch
  4. Apply fillet of 4 mm wherever needed
  5. On top plane make the below given sketch with proper dimensions and relation

\"\"

  1. On right plane by using spline tool make the required sketch with proper dimension and relation.
  2. Now use the above two sketches to create projected curve.
  3. Now on clutch at the appropriate place make small circle of 9 mm diameter
  4. Now by using sweep feature sweep the small circle along that projected curve
  5. Now we will use body move / copy option to shift the headlight along the Z Axis by -48 mm.
  6. Now we will use the mirror feature to Mirror the required entities about the appropriate face so here we will select the required entities need to be mirror and then by using appropriate plane or face we will ok it.
  7. Now we will use combine feature and we will combine or add the required parts of the Front fork.
  8. Now we will apply the appearance or the material on the parts present in the Front fork so for the Handle hand grip we will apply glossy rubber appearance and for the headlights we will apply Area light with the appropriate luminosity for clutch wire also we will apply glossy rubber and for the other parts of the fork we will use chromium plate material
  9. Now we will save the part as “Front fork”.
