Tutorial No 1 - SI Final
1.RUNNING THE ENGINE AT 1800 RPM AND THE CORRESPONDING OUTPUTS:
MODEL:
1.AIR FLOW RATE (Kg/h) : 24.6Kg/h
2.BRAKE MEAN EFFECTIVE PRESSURE(BMEP): 9.5 bar
3.BRAKE SPECIFIC FUEL CONSUMPTION(BSFC) : 239.2 g/Kw-h
4.IN-CYLINDER PRESSURE(bar) : 48.89 bar
2.RUNNING THE ENGINE AT 3600 RPM:
POWER OUTPUT (BRAKE POWER) : 16.7 KW
NOW INCREASING THE POWER OUTPUT BY 10% :
THE CHANGES MADE TO GET THIS NEW POWER OUTPUT ARE :
* Making the "AFR" slightly "Richer" ; say "14.5 to 14 ".
* Increasing the connecting rod length from 175 to 180 mm.
* And also the volume of the cylinder by increasing the "BORE" from 86 to 88 mm.
* And the stroke from 86.7 to 90 mm.
CHANGES:
AND BY DOING THIS THE POWER OUTPUT IS INCREASED BY 10%
FROM "16.7KW TO 18.5KW"
OUTPUT:
INFERENCE:
By making the AFR rich , the burning rate is increased and more torque can be generated and also by increasing the cylinder volume by changing the bore and stroke ,more air can be filled such that more burning can be done . And by increasing the connecting rod length , the better torque can be produced ,such that
the power output of the engine model is increased.
