Transient flow over a cylinder
In this simulation we will run a transient flow over a cylinder:-
First of all we draw a cyclinder of dia 50mm and extrude it 50mm
Dimension of cyclinder:-
Diameter = 50mm
Length = 50mm
Then we will use the wizard option in flow simulation and set up our baseline flow with air as our fluid and velocity to be 1m/s. we will select external flow parameters as the flow would be over the cyclinder. Then we will set time as it is a time dependent study which is also called transient simulation. Then run the simulation.
PARAMETERS:-
External flow with transient simulation
Velocity: 20m/s, 40m/s, 100m/s resp
Fluid: Air
Then we will calculate the reynolds no. and multiply it with 20,40&100 resp.
we will set up individual study by using wizard option set time properly twice the time of flow through window time. fluid as air and velocities asn20,40&100 m/s resp. Then we run the simulation and then see the cutplots of velocity and pressure individual. and then create a animation of scenario of velocities and pressure individually and save it.
We will create animation\'s for each flow velocity.
Conclusion(Observation):
From observing animation for flow over cylinder at different velocities as the velocity increases the affected area decreases that is as the velocity is low the air around the cylinder experience a increase in velocity by a small margin and near the cylinder surface the velocities are high. But as the incident velocity increases the affected area where velocities increases marginally decreases and the affected region is more near the surface of cylinder were velocities are very high
In case of pressure, as the velocity increases the pressure difference also increases and low pressure is created behind the cylinder due to which suction is created.
