To find out the resonant frequencies of a rotating shaft
Aim :
To Conduct a frequency analysis and apply a bearing fixture on the stepped face of the rod at the two ends.
Objective:
To find out the resonant frequencies of a rotating shaft.
Introduction :
Resonance:
The phenomenon in which an external force or a vibrating system forces another system around it to vibrate with greater amplitude at a specified frequency of operation is called resonance. The frequency at which the second body starts oscillating or vibrating at higher amplitude is called the resonant frequency of the body.
Rotating Shaft Design :
Procedure for Analysis :
- After making the finishing model, go to the simulation.
- Select the new study and go to the frequency analysis.
- In the frequency analysis there are two solvers:
1.) Direct Sparse
2.)FFE Plus (iterative method)
- Choose the solver and no. of frequencies.
- Apply the material to the shaft as alloy steel.
- After that, apply the bearing fixture on cylindrical face of the shaft (both side).
- Now create the mesh and run the simulation.
