TRANSIENT STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS ON A DOUBLE UNIVERSAL JOINT

PERFORM A TRANSIENT STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS ON A UNIVERSAL JOINT

The objective is to perform a Transient Structural Analysis on a double joint with a spring using three different materials, Structural Steel, Stainless Steel, and Titanium Alloy. To obtain the Equivalent Stress and Total Deformation for all the three cases.

  • First to import the given geometry in the ANSYS Workbench and then select the material one by one for the spring.

  • Properties of Materials given below:

  • Joint Details Are given below with the proper images:

  • Detail of meshing Given below:

  • Detail of Analysis Setting given below:

  • Detail of Joint-Rotation given below:

RESULTS FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL MATERIAL:

  • TOTAL DEFORMATION

  • EQUIVALENT STRESS:

COMPARISON OF TOTAL DEFORMATION AND EQUIVALENT STRESS FOR THREE DIFFERENT MATERIALS ARE GIVEN BELOW:

  • TOTAL DEFORMATION (mm) :

MATERIAL STRUCTURAL STEEL STAINLESS STEEL TITANIUM ALLOY

MINIMUM 0 0 0

MAXIMUM 38.637 38.637 38.637

AVERAGE 19.420 19.419 19.417

  • EQUIVALENT STRESS (MPa):

MATERIAL STRUCTURAL STEEL STAINLESS STEEL TITANIUM ALLOY

MINIMUM 9.1403e-009 8.733e-009 9.0438e-009

MAXIMUM 1538.3 1489.8 755.98

AVERAGE 125.11 120.89 60.828
