Steady-state simulation of flow over a throttle body

Steady-state simulation of flow over a throttle body

In this, I\'ve Simulated a steady state flow over a throttle body in Converge CFD. The throttle body is in wide open position as shown in the figure,

Throttle Body

Throttle Body - Section View

A throttle body is a butterfly valve (blue colour surface in the figure) located between the air intake filter and the intake manifold. It regulates how much air can go into the engine, based on driver input through the gas pedal. As more air flows into the engine, it injects more fuel, thus allowing for more power.

Simulation

The simulation is a steady-state flow of Air.

The static pressure difference between the inlet and outlet is of 0.5bar that is 1.5bar static pressure at inlet and 1bar at the outlet.

Initial the inside region\'s air is at 1atm pressure.

The simulation is done for 15000 cycles with an initial time step of 1e-9sec.

The base mesh or grid is of 2mmX2mmX2mm and an extra refinement near the butterfly valve of scale 2 and 3 layers.
