Speed Programming in Matlab Octave for non computer science engineers
OBJECTIVE:
Stoichiometric Combustion Calculator for Alkane, Alkene and Alkyne fuels.
EXPLANATION:
ALKANE:
In organic chemistry,an alkane consist of carbon and hydrogen atoms arranged in a tree structure in which all the carbon-carbon bonds are single.
For alkane the combustion reaction is
CnH2n+2+ar(o2+3.76N2) = aCo2+ bH2O+cN2
By balancing this equation we get ar=3n+1/2.
ALKENE:
In organic chemistry, an alkene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon that contains a carbon-carbon double bond.
For alkene the combustion reaction is
CnH2n+ar(o2+3.76N2) = aCo2+ bH2O+cN2
By balancing this equation we get ar=3n/2.
ALKYNE:
In organic chemistry , an alkyne is an unsaturated hydrocarbon contain atleast one carbon-carbon tripe bond.
For alkyne the combustion reaction is
CnH2n-2+ar(o2+3.76N2) = aCo2+ bH2O+cN2
By balancing this equation we get ar=3n-1/2.
MAIN PROGRAM:
clear all
close all
clc
x=linspace(1,20,20)
alkane=(((3*x)+1)/2)
alkene=(3*x)/2
alkyne=(((3*x)-1)/2)
plot(x,alkane,'r');
hold on
plot(x,alkene,'b');
hold on
plot(x,alkyne,'g');
xlabel('number of atoms of carbon')
ylabel('stoichiometric co-efficient')
legend('alkane','alkene','alkyne')
OUTPUT:
RESULT:
Thus we have shown plot that compares the effect of number of atoms of carbon on the stoichiometric co-efficient "ar".
