please find American chopper model in the above link
Objective:
- the objective of this project to design the American chopper components and assemble its components by giving proper mate relations to constrain the assembly with chopper components by using SolidWorks.
- to create the photo-realistic render scene for American chopper assembly & components using SolidWorks visualize.
Components of American chopper:
- Transmission Belt
- kickstand
- front fender
- rear fender
- oil tank
- chain
- pedal
- Front Wheel
- rear wheel
- front fork
- chassis
- engine
- Gas tank
Solid modeling is a consistent set of principles for mathematical and computer modeling of three-dimensional solids. Solid modeling is distinguished from related areas of geometric modeling and computer graphics by its emphasis on physical fidelity.
Transmission belt:
Features used:
- sketch, offset, extrude, fillet, appearance
Kickstand:
Features used:
- Sketch, loft, dome, boss extrude, extrude cut, fillet, split, appearances
Front fender:
Features used:
- sketch, offset entities, trim entities, revolve, mirror, split, appearances
Rear fender:
features used:
- sketch, offset entities, trim entities, revolve, appearances
Oil tank:
it is like a sump that stores the oil or lubricants which is required for the engine.
features used:
- Sketch, boss extrude, combine, fillet, shell, appearances
Chain:
The chain is one of the power transmission components which transfer motion to one sprocket to another. In this project, I used blocks feature to create chain links and used a curve driven pattern to create string of chain links to form the complete shape.
features used:
- Sketch, trim, fillet, blocks, extrude, pattern(curve driven pattern), appearances
Pedal:
features used:
- sketch, extrude, fillet, linear pattern, dome, chamfer, appearances
Front Wheel:
features used:
- sketch, revolve, trim, fillet entities, extrude boss/base, revolve cut, linear pattern, chamfer, fillet features, cut extrude, circular pattern, appearances
Rear Wheel:
features used:
- sketch, revolve, trim, fillet entities, extrude boss/base, revolve cut, linear pattern, chamfer, fillet features, cut extrude, circular pattern, planes, appearances
Front fork:
features used:
- sketch, extrude, trim, revolve, split, plane, convert entities, move/copy body, dome, mirror, combine, project curve, sweep, appearances
Chassis:
It is the main component of the whole American chopper assembly its like a skeletal structure that supports and holds the remaining components of the chopper assembly.
features used:
- sketch, offset, convert entities, project curve, trim, plane, sweep, split, revolve, cut extrude, fillet, combine, appearances
Engine:
it is the major component of the American chopper which generates power by converting chemical energy to mechanical energy. in this project, the v engine is modeled.
Features used:
- sketch, convert entities, trim, revolve, boss extrude, cut extrude, offset, dome, fillet, project curve, Composite curve, sweep, mirror, circular pattern, split, appearances
Gas Tank:
Features used:
- Sketch, trim, project curve, convert entities, sweep surface, loft surface, fill surface, surface trim, surface knit, sweep cut, fillet, appearances
Assembly of American chopper:
At first, insert the chassis as a base component by using insert feature in the assembly environment(.sldasm) then after inserting the other components of chopper by giving suitable mate relation to constrain one component to another in the chopper assembly.
Features used:
- insert component
- Mate(concentricity, parallel, perpendicular, width, coincidence, angle)
Rendering:
it is the process of creating the photorealistic scene of component or model. in this process, rendering is done on SolidWorks visualize software to photo-realistic render of chopper assembly by using features like appearances, hdr environments, backplate scenes, camera positioning, perspective, etc.
find some of the render scenes below.
Conclusion: the components of American chopper are modeled & assembled by using SolidWorks and rendering done by using SolidWorks visualize.
