Simulation of flow through a pipe in openFoam
#Analytical results
* Simulation time vs wedge angle:
From the graph it is quite clear simulation time is subsiquiently higher wigth higer wedge
angle and it starts decresing when we lower the wedge angle.
* Error in maximum velocity.
* Maximum velocity vs wedge angle plot is plotted openfoam result bit differes from
analytical result as wedge angle is declined.
Results obtained from openfoam.
* pressure drop or loss of head is linear along the lenght
*
*Wall shear stress the flow is laminar that is why lamianr turbulence model is used to calculate shear stress.
*outlet velocity profile fully developed as hagen poiseulle\'s flow.
*inlet velocity profile fully developed at inlet.
Assumption taken:
Lenght=1000mm
Dia =20mm
Reynolds number=1000
flow type=laminar
density=rho=998 kg/m3
kinematic viscosity=mu=1.004008e-06 m^2/s
Temperature=20 degree in c
-----------------------------------------
Analysitical Result:
% hagen psoillie formula
delTaP=(32*mu*V*L/D2)
%Reynolds number formula
Re=(rho*V*D/mu)
%% in openfoam pressure is actually not pressure its
a ratio of pressure and density=pressure/rho
Pressure drop=0.00405*998=4.0419043 pa
Kinematic pressure_inlet=0.0040160 m^2/s
kinematic pressure outlet=0 pa %%% because it is open to atmosphere
Maximum velocity=0.1002 m/s
Average Velocity=0.050100 m/s
* at inlet and outlet pressure driven approach is used to calculate the kinematic pressure at inlet and outlet
* pressure was gauge pressure
