Simulation of Plate With Hole
Objective:
Design a plate with Hole and Plate with multi Hole, Run the simulation with required parameters as given.
Steps to follow:
Model-I:
1. Open the ANSYS-Work Bench window, and in the ToolBox select Static Structural and Drag it into Project Schematic.
2. In the Schematic Select Engineering Data to select required material, in our case we can proceed with default one- Structural Steel.
3. To Model the Required geometry, Select geometry Option and click on Edit through Design Moduler.
4. Using Rectangle and Circle option draw a sketch as shown in requirement. and using Extrude option Mention Tickness as 30mm. and click on generate.
5. In the Project Schematic Click on Model and with right click select update, So that mesh can be generated Automatically. ( If we need Particular Mesh Size and requirements, we can edit later).
6. For Mechanical Parameters Input, Select Setup option to open Mechanical Window.
7. In the project tree Select Static Structural > Analysis Seyttings> (Continue With Default parameters).
8. Static Structural > Insert > Fixed Support - Select any one end which we want it as fixed support.
9. Static Structural > Insert > Force - for Input Force and select opposite face of fixed suppot and apply it, Magnitude as 500N and Load Direction need to select. ( In our case we want to test it for tensile load).
10. In Project Schematic Select Solution> Insert> Stress> Equivelent (Von-Mises). and Deformation> Total, for Required output results. and click on Generate results To run simuation.
11. We can obtain results for further analysis as shown in below pictures.
Results:
Deformation: 2.8094e-004mm
Max Stress:0.64MPa
Model-II:
1. In model 2 plate with multiple need to perform, so that we need to model it as given requirements.
2. Remaining Steps followed as Plate with hole model to achieve resultsas shown below.
Results:
Deformation: 2.97e-004mm
Max. Stress: 0.61MPa
Conclusion:
* In analysis standpoint Model-I having less deformation compare to Model-II, and aslo Model-I having less stress concentration areas compare to other which can helps life of component. ( by assuming both the designs for same purpose). So that Model-I preferred.
* In manufacturing stand point also Model-I should be considered, due to less no.of machining operations involved compared to other. so that time of manufacturing can be saved.
In other case , material can be saved in Model-II and component weight also reduced compared to model-I. so that in this case model -II is preferred.
