Simulating Washing Machine working by stateflow in Simulink
AIM: To simulate the working of washing machine by stateflow and highlighting the process with LEDs for given conditions
Given Condition
- If the power supply is available, the system gets activated .
- If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED.
- Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
- Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s.
Introduction
Stateflow
Stateflow is a control logic tool used to model reactive systems via state machines and flow charts within a Simulink model. Stateflow uses a variant of the finite-state machine notation
Working Process
The working process of a washing machine is when the power is on , the washing process starts sequencly as below
Start-> Filling Water-->Soaking-->Washing-->Rinsing-->Drying ->End
Final Block Diagram
- Both power and water inputs are given from a 'Slider gain' block through a constant (1)
- Inputs are connected to the two specified chart inputs and output of steps of process specified in the chart are taken out. {2-Inputs & 7-outputs}
- Each output is connected to a display and each display is connected to each 'Lamp' block/LED to illuminate and determining the point of process.
Inside the chart,
- First initiate with a source block and connect it to the power block [condition: 1- proceed, 0-return]
- Secondly, connect a water block to indicate water in flow[condition: 1- proceed, 0-return]
- Connect subsequent 'Soaking,Washing,Rinsing,Drying,End' block
- As per the condition, soaking should go for 200 sec. So '[after(200,sec)]' command is used. Similarly it is done for washing, rinsing,drying as per condition time {100,20,50 sec}
- Input sets and output sets are defined correspondingly in 'symbol pane'
Note: "exit=0 "is given in each block to terminate the action to ideal state when process proceeds to nexts state
Result
- When power and water supply is active
- When the water supply is off
