STUDY ON CONJUGATE HEAT TRANSFER AND EFFECT OF SUPERCYCLING

OBJECTIVE:

To simulate flow across a pipe and study the effect of supercycling for different stage interval.

SETUP:

Inlet Reynolds number – 10000

Length of pipe- 0.15m

Viscosity- 1.85e-5 Pa

Inlet velocity- 10 m/s (calculated value – 10.3 m/s)

Turbulence Modelling- k-Epsilon

Transient simulation – 2s

Outer wall – No slip condition

Side wall – WALL boundary condition

Supercycling duration- 0.05s

RESULTS:

0.002m

0.004m

0.006m

There is very minimum change observed in the cases because of higher grid which lead to coarser values. The temperature values converge around 1300.

Y+:

0.006m

0.002m

0.004m

EFFECT OF SUPERCYCLING:

0.006m

0.004m

0.002

There is not much changes noted from the cases and this leads to the conclusion that supercycling allows quicker convergence with a smaller interval of time.
