"STAR CCM+: SURFACE REPAIR OF GLIDER MODEL FOR EXTERNAL AERODYNAMIC SIMULATION"
OBJECTIVE
Performing surface repair on a glider model using STAR CCM+ & thereby making it ready for external aerodynamic simulation.
PROCEDURE
(fig 1: this is a surface repair window showing all errors in the slide-out panel)
(fig 2: non-manifold edges seen on the tail of the glider in blue)
(fig 3: removed non-manifold edges & pierced faces are also removed)
(fig 4: non-manifold vertex visible due to 2 open loops interacting at one single point)
(fig 5: creating a closed-loop helps in removing non-manifold vertex)
(fig 12: all major errors like pierced faces, non-manifold edges, non-manifold vertex, free edges removed; only face proximity & face quality errors remains which are cleaned by auto repair itself)
CONCLUSION:
So, by following the procedure as mentioned above we get an error-free glider model after successfully performing surface repairing and the model is now ready for performing the external aerodynamic simulation.
