RAIL WHEEL AND TRACK
AIM
To Perform a static structural analysis on a Railwheel and Track setup. This challenge will require the user to dwell deeper into user defined results by ANSYS.
CASE 1
- Open ansys workbench .
- Update the material module as structural steel.
- Geomtery - import - Bevel gear
- Model-edit
- Rename the model.
- In connections create a contact between rail wheel amd track by selcting their faces and their contact as frictional and frictional coefficent = 0.3.
- Then another contact btw rail wheel and shaft and denote frictionless.
- Then we create joint for railwheel ,shaft and track.
- For shatft we have give translational joint as it translates in specifeid direction along wheel.
- For railwheel we have given planar joint as it moves in straight direction.
- For track we have given fixed joint, since it is fixed.
- Then mesh the model with mesh size of 50 mm,and mesh the contact faces btw rail wheel and track with a separate mesh of 35mm.
- The translational distance of 500mm for the shaft is gievn in a sub menu.
- Create a bearing load the for the inner circumference of the wheel whch acts downwards.
- Then given Total deformation, von moises stress, and life and then formulate the results.

CONCLUSION
CASE 1
From the both the above load (100000,500000)condition the result delivered is
TOTAL DEFORMATION = 998.62MM
EQUIVALANT STRESS = 92.811MPA
LIFE CYCLE = 1E+6
TOTAL DEFORMATION = 998.62MM
EQUIVALANT STRESS = 404.46MPA
LIFE CYCLE = 1E+6
FROM the above denoted it is evdient that for both the load condition the TOTAL DEFORMATION remians the same , which meaans it can withstand load despite adding load on to it.
The equivalant stress for the material under the load condition 100000 is 92.811mpa and for the load condition 500000 is 404.46 mpa which is under the yield strenght of the material
Since the deformation of the material in both the load condition is below the permissible limit the lycle of thr trac and wheel tends to be good.
CASE 2
SOLVER DEFORMATION USER DEFINED DEFORMATION
For both rthe cases the resultremains the constant .
