Project Transient simulation of flow over a throttle body
Objective:
To study the transient flow over a throttle which is placed inside a pipe.
the throttle initially remains in horizontal direction and then moves at an angle of 25 degree stay their for 4 ms and then comes back to initial position.
The figure shown below shows the throttle position at initial time.
after this the throttle moves at an angle of 25 degree and stays their for certain 2 ms i.e from 2 to 4 ms it stays their. and the figure given below shows the position of throttle after 2 ms.
finally the throttle gets back to the initial position by the end of 8ms. final position can be seen in the fgiure given below.
the video link given below shows the movement of throttle from initial point to final point.

after the no hydro case the case is steup with particular boundary condition at inlet and outlet. and the case is simulated in Converge Studio.
Results:
from the mass flow plots you can see that the mass flow is increasing for 2 ms and then from 2 to 4 ms the gain is nearly linear (small change) but after 4 ms as the throttle moves back to initial position the flow increases. the total simuation time is 10 ms.
During the flow change in velocity is plotted with time period as the valve opens at 2ms stay their upto 4 ms and then goes back to initial point at 8 ms.the figure given below shows the change in velocity at different time of simulation.
the stream lines option is used to see the flow behaviour inside the pipe as throttle moves.
from the figures it is clearly visible that their is increase in turbulent when throttle moves at some angle.
1. figure shows the flow at the intial movement of throttle. as you can see stream lines are nearly straight in pipe but some turbulence is their near the throttle position.
2. figure shows that the turbulence magnitude increases as the throttle inclined at an angle of 25 degree it is then increases.
3. and the final figure shows the turbulence after the throttle reaches the initial position.
an animation is made which shows the flow inside the domain during the flow
